Satellite Tournaments
I played in a satellite to the Sunday Million last night. It was a $3 re-buy and I had $9 invested. I have an crazy ROI in these tournaments, but i made a few mistakes that could/should have cost me the game. There is a very unique strategy to winning in these things, but once you learn it they are so profitable. We've had a few discussions on the forum about Rebuy Satellite Strategy before, so you might give that a read as well. I will be posting a new and improved strategy guide in the near future as well. Anyway, if anyone is looking for a cheap way to make good money, I recommend you try these out. They are $3 Turbos with Rebuys for 30 minutes. the whole tournament last less than 2 hours anyway. Most people in this tournament try and play it like a standard MTT and lose lots of value.. Anyway, check out the replay here: Satellite to the Sunday Million

You guys know enough about my game and skill level. How much of BR do you think I should have before trying to make some cash at these? I used to do really well in the $2.20 Sat's to the Sunday 100K, where I'd win at least half of them. $2 invested to win $11T isn't that much of a profit/hour no matter what my winning % is though.
Hey, I have an idea. If anyone wants to stake me for like 10 of these (say $100 or so for an average of $10 each total) PM me. We can profit together. I usually play better with other people's money anyway. I'll play one a night until we either make money or you decide to call it quits.

I'll be honest, I am not an excellent player or an experienced player. However, if anyone wants to stake me in the WSOP main event, I would offer a 60% 40% split of any profit, the backer gets the 60%. I used to bowl local action and tournaments years ago, and I also did better with other people's money. Of course I was a better bowler than I am a poker player or more accurately, I am a poorer poker player than I used to be a bowler.

SPAM you are one of a kind my man.
To answer your question, um better yet I probably shouldn't answer. I've always pushed the edges of BR management, so I dunno. I don't think it would hurt anything to take a shot or two.. I'm going to work on a new satellite guide this weekend, so that should give you some good tips to make these profitable..

Well I'm sure that in order to follow any "good practice" BR Management rules, I'm not going to play in these any time soon.
I normally play in just about any $1, $2, or even up to $6 MTTs and I'll play in up to $10 or even $15 Deepstack Bounty Tournaments (as I can more times than not, at least make my buy-in back before bad luck prefails.) So I guess you could say I always push any logical BR Management rules. I play in these low $ Buy-in tourneys becasue it's never really been a problem winning $5-10 in a couple of hours in FR cash games to recoup the buy-in for the (potentially) big (by my standards) payday in the MTT.

Wonder if the site would consider having a "Moocher" thread where players can post requests to be sponsored in online games and tournaments, or even to request others to contribute money for non poker expenses, such as food or rent money.
Perhaps the best chance someone would have of getting financial assistance from other players would be to try to make a deal with players at online cash games and tournaments. From the SPAM little book of poems I am down on my luck. I fell like a dip. cause I'm stuck in the muck. And I'm begging for chips. |
