Default Here's another Full Tilt Quiz Hand...

You're in the middle stages of a $5 buy-in MT Tournament.

Blinds 100/200

Hero: 6000 in chips
Average stacks all around

Dealt to Hero: in middle position.

UTG+1 limps and it's folded to you.

Pot = 500

What do you do?

I'd be shocked if the correct answer isn't limp. I'm certainly limping here and playing for set value at this stage.

Well I am the one who voted to raise. Since I am 30X the BB and no raises in front it seems like a good place to raise. If you have been playing fairly tight and an A rolls off, you can many times cbet and anyone who calls will let it go thinking you are betting the A. This of coarse doesn't always work, but seems like a good spot to try it.

Along that same line of thought, I have been known to (occasionally) minraise in this spot. Here's why. Someone who follows me may be less inclined to raise with a monster that they ordinarily would have raised with, like even AA or KK trying to trap the trapper. If I'm gonna hit my set the same number of times with or without doing this, I figure I may as well juice the pot a little for the times that I do. "cause let's face it, the times that this hand will see a showdown without hitting the set are far and few between.

Call me stupid, and wasting money or whatever, but trust me, at my level this works since I usually get 4-6 players to MANY flops & minraising doesn't chase ANYBODY off.

That said... Yes Puck, the FTP correct answer, of course, was limp. I have to say that Terminal was the last guy I expected to raise here.

I actually saw Ugi's answer and just wanted to disagree with him again.

My default play is limp, but it depends on what people behind me do and if I have a read on what an EP limp means.

Table reads are super important here. If this is a standard $5 tournament I would like to limp here and see what happens after that. Some one would probably make an ill advised play (like a min raise) and give me great odds to set mine here.. So I voted limp and I lean towards raise here too, but mainly only in a bigger buy in event..

My 2 cents

Limp and shove if someone raises in the blinds because that's just such an obvious squeeze opportunity.

Just kidding. Just limp in.
