I don't really think he has a flush draw. Some stats or reads on opponents would be nice in these posts, if they are available.
You want to bet way less on the flop. I will ask you a serious question: why are you betting? I am not trying to say you should check or bet or whatever, but can you answer that question? Why are you betting here? Why do you bet anywhere? What amount do you pick to bet? And WHY?

I like betting but don't like the overbet. A bet of 500-600 is plenty. Play from there.
As played, I don't think you're ahead by much if at all.

This guy limped like 3 out of 30 hands, folded the rest. never raised. checked a flopped flush all the way to the river and won nothing. Called some stupid bets and lost some chips 2x.
I figured it was time to see a (relatively cheap) flop here since if I flopped anything, I thought I'd go for it here. Mistake, I now know. ANyway he had the 3 5 offsuit, I think. Flopped a set and just called my high bet. Thought he was overbetting a flush draw, so I went for it. Lesson learned... PLay tighter pre-flop. all the rest of the hands in this topic had similar results wih similar lessons learned. Thanks everyone.

Quote:
Flopping a set is when you have 33 and the flop is 3AK. See the difference? A set and you make a full house if any card on the board pairs, but with trips you only make a full house if one of your hole cards pairs.

Thanks for the correction.
So if I just check the flop, he'll probably bet & I can fold. By me betting, he's content to call with his set hoping I'll take another stab at the pot after the turn. I didn't since the turn (K - I think) scared me. We checked it down and he took the cash. If he doesn't bet the flop, the turn still scares me. Net = 900 less lost. Lesson learned.
