Default Check raising in MTTs

Howdy peoples.

So here I am playing this live MTT.

I didn't cash. What happenned?

I was on a card run. I had big aces and AA, KK, QQ quite a lot. I built up my stack to about 350BBs.

Then, it was check-raise city. I would bet, get called, bet, then be check-raised all-in. It was weird. I had to fold almost every time. I guess, it is a good play.

My question is: what is your general plan against a field who check-raise you all the time?

As an aside, this post was motivated also by a 50+5 SNG where I lost a large amount of chips folding to a big check-raise. It sucks there too.

If only they were cash games :/.

Check behind sometimes even when you hit?

LOL.

Sorry, it really is a vague question. Every situation is different as you know.

Generally I'll check behind with a little something and trap them with a monster. It varies with their "too cool for school" factor.

Against someone really using their "leet skillz" I'll play a lot more drawing type hands and take the free cards while betting with the best hand. That way their options are raise on the flop and get their ass kicked or be forced to bet on the turn where I've either a made hand or missed draw.

If it's running rampant at your table you might consider getting in on the action yourself. With a lot of it going on most of it'll be bluffs. That means you can do it more often, since people will be calling what they think is you bluffing. Or, if it's just one guy I'll use him as a shield to play draws. Guy checks, I check knowing I get the free card because nobody behind me can bet.
