That's a hell of a read. I'd probably call you a donk too.
Question: Why the over-bet on the turn? Do you have stats/history with this guy? And even getting 4-1 odds to call his CRAI, what do you put him on that you beat?

This guy had been only playing A? something. If he didnt have an ace he didnt play the hand.
I actually put him on A8. and I just had that feeling from the flop that I had him. I wasnt even concerned about the flush draw. The only concern I had was an A dropping on the river. After the turn I just know in my gut that I got him and the only way he is going to get me is if an ace came on the river so he was going to have to pay big to see that river card.

Ehh.. That's a big bet.
It's way too much to price out any potential draws he could have and blows him off a lot of mediocre hands that would call a smaller bet. Generally it's unnecessary to make pot sized bets on the turn or river. In fact, it's usually not necessary to do it on the flop either, but it's not as bad since the pot is smaller absolutely.

Yes, I much prefer 2/3 pot bets.

poker is one thing that I am not cocky about, and I am not proficient at hand reading, or ranging players. However, it is my observation that it is common for short stacks at $.10/$.25 or $.25/$.50, at least on UB and Bodog (the new bodoglife) to have impulsive personalities, which translate into deciding fairly frequently to commit to a hand in advance. Frequently calling short stacks all-ins with good but vulnerable hands such as an over pair may be profitable due to the relatively high frequency of impulsive bluffing by many short stacks, at least in my experience.
Many short stacked players at the lower limits are either financially impaired, or do not have skills to play consistently well post flop. It appears to me that a significant number of these players are vulnerable to behaving impulsively and making errors. My observation also indicates that the short stacked players who frequently whine in chat and play weak/tight post flop, are less likely to run bluffs. |
