1. You need to be raising this hand JC

2. Every time you min-raise or min bet - Reach back and bitch slap yourself. You are better than that

You can c/r the field instead of leading out if you like, but as dry as it looks there is the possible oesd and a ton of possible gutshots out there that you need to protect against somewhat. Make it at least 8 to go.

OK man maybe you need this.

Preflop you should raise in this situaton. Calling here is the least of your worries though. (After the raise by BB it's an easy call but you should be thinking, damn, why didn't I do that?) On the flop you check, here you should almost always bet, especially into a large field, you are simply losing value in general if you check raise. But you didn't check raise, you check min riased for fucks sake, why the hell would you do that?? The turn is a great card for you. Now that you have been so fucking cute on the flop there is no reason to do even more crapness and push the turn. Why not make a half pot bet and then put the rest in on the river, or call the push; you're not going to fold being this shallow no matter what comes so the idea is to get it in with as many people as possible. Holy crap man, this hand is so butchered it makes my eyes bleed.

Please God I hope you learn your lesson .

Ok, the post flop play I completely understand, was horrible! but I am a little confused on the preflop play????

I could swear that in a video I watched once a while back, I believe by Howard Letterer (spelling?) Titled playing pocket pairs. In the video he talked about small to middle pairs. The point behind the 15 min video was that with these types of hands you want to play them cheap until you hit your trips??

Is that not correct???

Now in the small number participant SNGs I play, yes I would have come out a lot more aggressive but on cash table I assumed this was the proper way to lead out????

I think the point is, even if you are out of position against a preflop raiser, 99 is good enough to play on its own merit (without hitting trips) to re-raise and thin the field (hopefully get heads up). By just calling, you are inviting everyone else to call (which builds the pot for the times you DO flop a set which is not bad at all), and most of the time, you are forced to check fold ANY AND ALL flops with an overcard, simply because of the number of players in the pot.

On the flop, with this many players in, you need to bet out for value and protection. Very few flops are technically "dry flops" and this is no exception. The more players in the pot, the more likely someone connected in some way with the flop. Do you really want to check, have it get checked around, and have the turn be the or ? You need to bet for value and protection. If everyone folds, oh well, sometimes you don't win big pots with sets. That's just holdem.
