Question on being counterfeited - O8

I lost a low hand and I can't figure out why. Can you have more than 2 cards counterfeited? So, if you hold 4 low cards and 3 of your low cards are on the board none of your low cards count?

If the board is A23KK and you have A234 you can't make a valid low hand at all. Remember, exactly two from your hand and four from the board.

Any two of them can count. The problem is your opponent has three of your 4 possible low cards, by virtue of them being on the board.

What did each of you have?

IF A 4 2 J 8 is on the board and you have A 2 4 3. Then your low is A2348 If you opponent has 56 in his hand he has you beat. His low is A2456.

It might be easier to wait until it happens again. I've played over a thousand hands over the past several days and I just have raw hand history files, no Pokertracker for Omaha yet.

Going to take a break on the game for a little while anyway and try to learn more. I've lost a lot of money on it. Generally, my strat was to wait for a hand like :As :2s :3d :Kd but I almost never win a hand. The other night I think I won 2 hands out of several hundred dealt and lost about $600. Also, A2 mining, you get quartered a LOT and so I think I figured out that A2 is only half a hand and started folding more A2s.

Thanks Term, that answers my question... if I get pokertracker up and running I'll post the hand to see what the hell happened.

You can have a straight qualify for a low, but you can't have a pair. 5 unpaired cards 8 or lower.

If the board is K9852 and you hold AAK2 you don't have a low.

There you have it, the extent of my O8 knowledge!

What I feared from losing the hand was that if you and A234 and the flop was 234 you can't have a low either. I must have lost some other way but I couldn't figure it out. Or maybe I figured it would only counterfeit the 34 and not the 2 and it counterfeits the 23 and not the 4. I still don't know what happens there. I gotta find that history.

Well, it stands to logic that you need to flop at least 3 parts to a low or you won't be able to make one, and on the turn you'll need 4 parts to still have a shot at it.
