FH > FH is one of the reasons I stopped playing O8, it's hard to lay down a FH.

lol, I've been slowplaying everything on him, letting him do a lot of the raising preflop, including premium hands like A23x with the ace sooted.

It's fairly easy to release on the turn when I reraise. In fact, that's an automatic laydown for me. LOL at his turn checkraise.

Um....why? Isn't it just as likely that you hit your flush? Wow, I'm never playing omaha if I'm going to have to learn to lay down full houses.

Omaha...you either have the nuts, are betting into the nuts, or are drawing to the nuts.

And it was only three handed too! I know that I wouldn't lay it down with the flush out there being such a high possibility.

This is so true. Only cash games I am Playing right now is Omaha 8. I couldn't lay down a very similar hand yesterday and lost a $39.00 pot.

There are so many people playing this game that have no idea ...on even starting hand selection and call every hand their dealt and raise the hell out any 2 pair.

Very nice flop Merv ..well played

It's pretty important to know your opponent in Omaha and what his/her bets mean. In this case, if Villain has been paying attention (and he should be b/c he was very chatty, talking shit) then he should know I'm not reraising pot on the turn with a hand that 5s full of 9s is beating. Despite being 3-handed, only a crackhead would play a flush like this.

I know I've (correctly) laid down some pretty big boats before. Here's a really good thing to know. don't build big pots with small boats, especially if you flop them. You ideally want to get to the river w/o calling any big bets, b/c you'll most certainly be beat. Then again, you don't want to release them if you can get a cheap showdown (I can't tell you how many flopped boats I've lost with).

On the flip side, get value from them when they're likely the best hand. Again, you're going to need some kind of read on your opponent. This comes from basic paying-attention. 6 max is better, b/c it's less opponents to get to know. Plus, 6-max PL Omaha hi/lo is my baby. I've made the majority of my online monies from this game. I guess that's what makes me so good at reading other peoples' hands.

One more thing, I'd have a harder time laying down a King high flush on an unpaired board, then I do laying down a small boat, like in this instance.
