Full Tilt Poker, Limit Hold'em Cash Game, 8 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter Pre-Flop: 8 8 dealt to Hero (MP1)2 folds, Hero raises, 3 folds, SB 3-bets, BB folds, Hero caps, SB calls Flop: (9 SB) J 9 7 (2 Players)SB checks, Hero checks Turn: (4.5 BB) K (2 Players)SB bets, Hero calls River: (6.5 BB) 3 (2 Players)SB checks, Hero checks Results: 6.5 BB Pot (0.25 BB Rake) Hero showed 8 8 (a pair of Eights) and WON 6.25 BB (+3.25 BB NET)SB showed T A (Ace King high) and LOST (-3 BB NET)My Logic: - This guy had reraised light 3 times now from EP or the blind. A few hands before he 3 bet with KJo. Knowing this and the fact that i had position i capped to hold the lead a make my hand appear stronger than it was. - I was going to bet the flop if two of the 3 were lower than 8. It wasn't and i didn't see value in betting since i know im getting called or check raised. Goal was just to get to show down. - The rest is standard based on the cards dealt. |

This is a little confusing to me. You cap to appear strong and then check behind on the flop. I gotta throw a bet out here, especially with the board not only looking scary but actually a bit in your favor. You are ahead over most Ax hands and probably still have hand & pot odds to suck out against a high PP in case that check-raise does come.
I guess the flop check is alright, but the part about wanting to get to showdown scares me a bit as you've called a bet after a King comes. Like if he had any kind of AK or KQ hand then he's hit and you're still calling down. I guess what I'm trying to say is the logic of not betting when a couple higher cards came on the flop but still calling when another high card hits eludes me.

Yah bingo. The difference with limit is that you don't have weight with your bets. They're going to call anyway given the size of the pot and won't fold worse ever. So by betting you're just putting more money in the pot when behind.
