Default The one play i have yet to understand in limit

I've seen this a billion times at low to medium limits and can't understand the logic behind it.

Say you have JQ and your wierd opponent has QT. You have position on your opponent and you raised him when he open limped.

Flop: 9s Tc 3d

Your opponent bets into you with his TP+TK
You reraise.
He calls.

Turn: 2d

Opponent checks
You bet
Opponent calls

River: 2c

Opponent bets out into you???

Someone explain the logic behind this play to me...

flush and straight draws missed, he has TP

very unlikely you have a 2

you often have nothing (A high)

Yeah which side were you questioning?

QJ raises the flop to pump the pot and/or get a fold. Now he's got better odds to call a bet on a missed turn. The bet on the turn by QJ must now be a bluff to induce a fold, though I personally wouldn't do it unless I had a great image at the table or a good read, as villains always 'put you on AK' as a miss here.

For the QT side, he has to call PF which such a powerful hand. The final river bet out was as Carrera says plus see above 'put you on AK' comment or the obvious draw. I still would say it's not the best of plays by QT...better to check/call with a weak hand.

I must of saw that play 20 times last night in the span of two hours when i was multitabling.

I see it as -EV. If you're beat and the guy has you crushed he's going to reraise you on the river and you lose two bets assuming you call. If you bet and he's been on a draw he's folding and you gained nothing. I just dont see betting out being profitable in the long run unless you have TP+TK or two pair against a loose passive player. Any decent opponent your better off checking and inducing a bluff imo.

*shrug* maybe he thinks you've got JJ+ so he's bet/folding.

You're right, the play is atrocious, but there's always a logic behind every play, even if the logic is wrong.
