I love how when I look at limit HE hands, so often people go nuts on the flop w/ air but it gets checked through if people have monsters.

Well, at least you won

I don't think I'll ever understand that game. Shouldn't we bet the flop for value even if not to prevent villian from drawing? Or will they never fold a draw there. But then again if they won't fold the draw, why not bet for value? I dunno.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat the fuck are you talking about, bigL?

Villains aren't drawing, we are.

Moreover, you can't bet for value unless you have sufficient equity; if someone has a flush draw they're a favorite, and they're not folding anyway.

I mean, you can't have it both ways: You can't bet for value without the best hand and you can't bet to charge draws when you're behind.

But anyway you can't lead out for less abstract reasons: what happens if you get raised, reraised, or capped before you get to act again. Then you've really fucked yourself, haven't you?

Remember, all we have is a straight draw: no overcards, flush possibility, blah blah.

"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat the fuck are you talking about, bigL?"

You misread my post, prick. Lay off.

(yes, I'm kidding about the prick thing. I mean you may very well be a prick, but this thread isn't indicative of it. )

What the fuck are either of you talking about?

I took BigL's comments to be about hand #1, in which Hero is a good favorite, even against a flush draw. Hero has best hand, therefore value bet is possible.

But limit is a bitch. I'd say if you had only top pair instead of top set, then you'd bet to try to eliminate the people drawing for two pair or sets, because technically they should be folding even in limit. But SFU is right that any flush drawer is never folding here, which is why the strategy of waiting to the turn to bet in limit is a decent one for that hand. We aren't worried about people hitting a *free* two pair or set or even the over-card Ace because we have top set, but we also don't want to get things too pricey on the flop only to see a diamond on the turn....also if we bet and drawer raises, then in a weird way he's priced himself in to a correct pot odds turn call, as well.

At least you won with KK...I find those hands to be the biggest losers in limit due to the nature of the game.

lol.

I took BigL's comment to be about hand 2.

Betting is obviously correct in hand 1.

I finally got around to reading this thread. I have no comment now that I have read it...other than I am confused (as usual).
