Even against idiots, stacking off for 1.8 to 1 odds with A high has to be -EV.

His range isn't quite infinite, since I'm sure he doesn't open push every hand he plays... so I think it's a pretty easy fold. Maybe you call and put him on a non-nut flush draw. Sometimes I can do that live against people who do that all the time.

I figure it's a fold, but after getting pushed on so much with as little as 38s... if these shortstack guys have a good hand there they usually don't push. They use the relatively little financial risk involved to make you fold if they don't have it. I'm fairly sure he doesn't have shit, but he might have a little pair. I suppose I still fold, but how many times do you just give up like that when you're faced with this kind of thing all the time?

I folded. Villain scooped the pot and immediately left the table.

I'll stove this when I get home johnny, cuz I am finding myself in similar situations. If sb had not bet out, I have been shoving this flop w/ overs, w/ mixed results.

Edit: edited to clarify, I'm shoving the flop with overs in similar situation to this, in HU pots with very short stacks. I've been calling allins too if I'm getting 2:1 or better.

See, I always make the wrong choice.... 100% of the time... I'm so tired of losing hundreds or a thousand dollars a night to shortstacks. If I fold I think I probably would have won. If I call or push over then they draw out. Whichever, 100% wrong.

It's driving me fucking crazy because a HUGE percentage of my hands played is against shortstacks willing to push or call all in and if I don't figure out how to stop hemmoraging money to them I'm never going to be profitable enough to continue.

And you can say that pushing was the right decision here but fuck me it doesn't turn out that way 90% of the time. I've played ELEVEN THOUSAND hands of $1/$2 this month and I'm up a stinking lousy fucking 150BBs. Every night I get my money in with these shortstack little fuckers and they draw out and erase all my grinding. Every night.

I'm trying to be a salty little bitch here, please don't put me in a good mood!

Finally got up to a bit of a profit last night and I get AK OTB before logging off... shortstack who is playing 80% VP and calling down when he hits any pair limp/calls my $12 raise, $12 because I just didn't even want to fuck around, A on the flop and looks me up with A4 to of course spike his 4. [x] he put me on KK Now I'm up only 100BBs. What a waste of time.

But seriously... what can you do? You put them on a range and decide if it's right to call, right? But what if there is no range? Seriously, the range includes 37o. Lost twice to 38s a few days ago then to 37o last night. These tables are insane and each one has 3 or so of these guys pushing complete trash. Sounds like a goldmine, it works out to be the opposite. I'm missing something very key here and I can't figure out what it is.

If their range is all possible hands then you just have to play against them as if they are playing random cards. Your play does differ somewhat in that case, but not significantly so... usually, if someone is playing like that an is also 200BBs deep, you can give them credit for things like trashy two pair hands given a read or certain kinds of action. But against shorties in your case, you just can't do it profitably. Some moves I've seen you might not want to make but the vast majority of them are good hands.

One (semi serious) suggestion: just push all-in preflop when heads up with a shorty. It'll be +EV.
