Default NL500: Overpairs are +EV

Here we go. Villain in this hand is a middle aged reasonable guy, not sure if he can play or not (at this stage). It is his third hand or so.

I had been going OK and built up $600. The hand previous I stacked someone with :4h: :5h: when I raised from the button, hit two pair, pushed flop and he called with KK. He wasn't happy. Yes, he limp-call-checked.

Stacks

UTG
UTG+1
MP
MP+1 (Villain) $450
CO
Button
SB (Ugig) $600
BB

Ugig looks down to see :Ks: :Kc:.

Everyone folds to Villain, who calls. I raise to $50 from the SB. he calls.

Pot $105

Flop: :6s: :Th: :3c:

Action on me. I bet $55. SB thinks and calls.

Pot $215

Turn: :8s:

Action on me. Villain has $345 or so behind. I bet $180. He pushes, I call.

Thoughts? I can keep reaching for something less standard.

Did you want to try a checkraise? I think betting out is better in this case, and can't really find an argument for checkraising. Against this guy, who has shown me that he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, I'm inclined to play straightforwardly.

I like he bet sizing in this hand as well.

In my first post I didn't realize this isn't the same villain as the hand you referenced.

Now I'm not sure what he's got, but you bet yourself into calling anyway.

Idano, three sixes.

IMO, this hand is simply deciding whether he has a set or not. The board is extremely dry. Few draws that got there on the turn. If you want to play it safe, check the turn and see how he responds. If you bet, you have to call the all-in.

Do you think checking the turn is better than betting out? If you check and he pushes, what is your move? If he bets $200 or so? You want to check but to be safe, but are you sure it is not simply a way to lose value?

On this particular board I like the small flop bet. On the turn you can't read his soul and put him on 97, and in a HU pot giving him credit for a set because he called a small flop bet is also pretty laughable so I am bet/calling the turn as well.

I agree with this line of thought; the hand play is standard for me. Still, I am very interested in other opinions.

Sizes of my bets are dictated by trying to get as much value as possible, but that should go without saying .

Turn bet loses a lot of value given his stack size and how big the pot will be on the end unless he is absolutely terrible. Probably +EV if you balance it with air often enough. Obviously it´s a clear call all in or it´s a bad bet originally.

What are the hands he's losing value against? I don't think villain is going to bet if checked to often enough to make a checkraise profitable, especially since checking will probably polarize villain's range a little bit.
