Default Pot Limit Omaha Poker: The Big Play Strategy

I picked this book up the other day, as Omaha is a game I'm really interested to learn as a secondary serious game. There's not a whole lot on the internet for omaha strategy, plus the book is only $15 brand new.

I am about 4 chapters in, and I can already tell this is going to be a great book! In summary of what I've learned so far:

- Play to draw to the nuts; don't draw to non-nut flushes/straights
- Play hands you want to take to the river
- Play hands that you would back with your whole stack
- Try to keep pots multiway, unless you have a lone AAxx and can get most or all of your chips in the middle preflop and heads up
- A bare OESD is a weak hand
- Learning what hands can flop big, what hands are considered premium, and learning to recognize flops that give me big draws with nut outs and recognizing when outs are not nut outs
- Two holdem hands don't make an omaha hand (ie, JsTs5c4c is not a great omaha hand)

The book features a good amount on just PLO, followed by hand quizzes, and then a small section on PLO8 with hand quizzes. As someone that knew basically nothing about omaha strategy (yes I am the player who would tilt because my AAxx got cracked because I thought it was a big hand), I can confidently say this book is already well worth my money and I highly recommend it.

One game at a time for BigL here, but I can see that there's lots of money to be made. I'm just not much of a "drawing hand" player, so I don't think it's for me.

Yes this is DEFINITELY a drawing game. Especially where 13-card nut draws are common, and you can have as big as a 20 card draw (including draws to the non-nuts). AAxx is considered a drawing hand and needs to flop top set to continue. And in most cases, AAxx needs something else to accompany it, like SCs, suited cards to make the aces suited, etc.

I became interested in the game when I half realized how fishy the micro stakes were, and why I was pissed that my AAxx got cracked.
