Vegas, June 30 to July 1

Work has been crazy this week, trying to catch up with everything so I can leave for a couple days while new rush orders came in, but it's all done now and I can relax and get ready for this thing. I'm going to do a hit-and-run trip, leaving Monday afternoon and returning on Wednesday. The purpose is to play in the All In Energy Invitational Tournament. It's listed in the official WSOP lineup here... World Series of Poker - Official Tournament Coverage and Results but it's just a vanity tournament, no real prestige for winning and it's likely to have no covereage from Cardplayer as it's not on their schedule.

What it does have, however, is a guaranteed $500,000 prize pool and a maximum of 1500 invitations, all of which will not show up. With expenses I will have to deduct $800 from my bankroll in order to play in this tournament, which is negative equity, but it has to be some pretty good experience to get under my belt.

The payout is top heavy with 1st getting an even $100,000 and second getting $48,000 and it goes down just as fast from there. However, there are also 30 celeb pros playing who will each have a $1k bounty. The pros include:

Johnny Chan, David Devilfish Elliot, Annie Duke, Tex Branch, Chris Moneymaker

David Williams, Patrik Antonius, Tuan Lee, Billy Paxter, Tim Phan

Dewey Tomko, Ken Einiger, JC Tran, Scott Fischman, Layne Flack

Freddie Deeb, Clonie Gowen, Jim Krazy-Kanuck Worth, Scotty Nguyen, Robert Williamson

Tuan Lam, Steve Dannenmann, David Singer, Hollywood Dave, Cyndy Violette, Eli Elezra, TJ Cloutier, and Phil Gordon

No idea who the other 3 are.

So, it's going to be an experience for sure. I really hope I get to test my skills against a few of these guys.

Monday night there will be a reception party with the celebs so I'm going to try to get some pictures. Registration for the tournament starts at 9AM on Tuesday and the tournament starts a few hours later and runs to as late as 2AM. If the tournament runs into day two and I last in day two more than a few hours I will miss my flight home. I figure if I'm still in it and doing well enough at that point to not have to pushbot to leave on time then I won't care about missing the flight home. If by some chance I come in 1st or 2nd then I'm going to find a place to stay for a few weeks and buy in to the Main Event.

I won't have a computer with me since I won't have any time to actually use it for anything so I'll update when I get home on Wednesday night.

The tournament is to promote the energy drink that all these pros are tied to... All In Energy Drink I won the invite by participating in the energy drink promotion.

cliffs notes: the tourney was a bust, the cash games are total bank, and Clonie Gowen is really hot (and nice/friendly) in person.

Didn't see a hint of Tom Dwan or Gus Hansen anywhere. Saw lots of others.
