Default TRip Report - Monticello again.

I get up this morning and my wife tells me she is going shopping with her sister, so I decide I need to go play poker. So I jump in the car and drive the 2 1/2 hours to Monticello, FL. I guess I should mention when I get there I had to take a piss. So I go to the bathroom first. Not much else to tell, there was no line I just did my business and got out. Hopefully like Snickers I will have a story to go along with this next time, anyway I head out to the floor and get on the list. There are two tables going and 2 people ahead of me on the list. So I think great I am going to waste a hour sitting here waiting. After 5 minutes or so about 5 or 6 more people come in and they start a new table. It turns out to be a pretty good table. I am doing really well and I am up about $150.00, when I make a really stupid mistake. I am in the BB and I look down at AKs. A very solid player in late position raises to $15.00, which was pretty much the standard raise. I decide to just call and see the flop, everyone else folds and we are heads up. The flop is 234. I check. The guy bets $30.00. I should have folded, this guy was very tight solid. Our stacks were about even. I decide I have the straight draw and and my A or K may be good as well. I call. I don't remember the turn but it gave me the nut flush draw. I check. He bets $50.00, I call. The flop is another 3, I decide to try and steal it and bet $50.00 more and he calls immediately. He had AA. At this point I had only showed down with premium hands so I thought my image might get me the pot, but no. So I am now back to just about even. From there I can't really remember many hands. I played some more hands badly, started calling raises I shouldn't have with marginal hands. I really went into donk mode. I was trying to make back what I lost instead of just playing smart. Next thing I know I am putting my third $100.00 buy-in out for more chips. That is when I woke up and started playing smart again. This is now about 5:00PM, I arrived about 2:00. My original plan was to play until about 5 or 6 and then go home. I dropped down about another $30.00 so I was down about $270.00 when I finally started coming back. I worked my way back up to about $120.00 and then I hit a really big hand for about another $150.00. I am in the BB and get QQ. A guy who had not been at the table long in late position raises $10.00. Everyone folds to me and I re-raise $20.00 more. He calls. When the dealer flips the three flop cards up one of lovely bitches is sitting right on top. So I check, muhahaha. Well villain bets $30.00, being the tricky bastard I am I just call. Then as always happens when I slow play the next card puts a possible straight and a flush draw is now possible. So I decide it's time to shut this down. The guy has about $70.00 more so I bet enough to put him all-in. He tanks for a long time and finally says I hope you have kings and calls. He had AA. The river doesn't help him and now I am finally back about even for the day. I then go on a card rush and I end up leaving the table +250.00.

I won quite a bit from one guy. He was the ultimate in calling stations. He called any raise pre-flop and called to the river with any pair or draw. He would sometimes fold at the river but not very often. If you checked to him you could always depend on him betting. I must have checked raised him at the river at least 10 times. He got very lucky against other people but not so much against me, which really helped. People kept trying to bluff him and it was a losing cause. He would not fold. He got busted once but when he left the table he was probably even or maybe even a little up. It was painful to watch him play.

So when I am leaving I drive out to the entrance of the parking lot and it is now dark as I stayed until 9:30PM. I just couldn't leave at 6:00pm while I was down. There is a cop with his lights on and he has someone pulled over just 20 yards from the entrance, so I am having a hard time seeing. I forgot this was a divided highway and I turn left out and just as I do I realize I am going the wrong way on the highway. So I pull over in the meridian and turn around and of coarse the cop waves me over. So I have to go through the whole sobriety test. He only made me follow his finger with my eyes. After he talked to me he realized I wasn't drunk, just a dumbass. He gave me a warning and sent me on my way. :) I am glad they don't offer free drinks in there like they did at the casinos, or I would have been screwed.

Nice report and nice comeback. Loved the bathroom story. :D

What happened to you by staying way past your 'scheduled' time is exactly what I'm afraid will happen to me with West Virginia. As a matter of fact, I'm almost positive it will happen at least once to me.

I just remembered another kind of funny story. They were having dog racing that night and about 6:00PM about an hour before the racing this dude comes in and he is sent to our table. He must have come for the racing and decided his hand at poker, So he throws $20.00 up on the table and wants to play. The dealer informs him the minimum buy-in is $60.00. So he then fumbles around in his wallet for 5 minutes and comes up with $60.00. The very first hand I am in BB with AQ. Two or three limpers ahead of me I raise $15.00. At this point I am working on losing my second buy-in. I have about $60.00. Well I get two callers, one being the new guy. The flop is all rags. With the two callers the pot is about $45.00 and that's about how much I have left so I go all-in. The new guy calls which is all his chips. The other guy folds. New guy has AQ and we split. I know someone is going to have this guys stack shortly I just hope it is me. The very next hand I am in the SB with something like 37. It gets to the new guy and he spends a good 5 minutes counting chips and no one is really sure what he is about to do. He even ask to see my chip stack. I am justing waiting to fold. So he finally grabs like $30.00 in chips and looks like he is going to throw them out put only releases two $1.00 chips in his other hand and calls. We play a few more hands and he is calling all pre-flop bets. A few hands later I look down at AJ suited and I have about $30.00 left so I go all-in. A fairly tight player just ahead of the new guy calls and the new guy calls which leaves him about $5.00. The flop is a couple rags with a Q. Well the tight player bets the $5.00 and the new guy calls. The tight player has QJ. How he calls with that I don't know. I was still in Donk mode at this point so I guess he figured I was making a move. Anyway the new guy is now busted, he never showed what he had. The dealer had explained to him several times that you could buy in for $40.00 if you still had chips but if you bust you had to buy-in for the minimum $60.00. Well he digs through his wallet and puts about $47.00 up and the dealer tells him he must buy-in for $60.00. So he ask if there is a ATM. I am thinking YES!!. Maybe I can get some of my money back. So the guy says save the seat he will be right back and then after a few hands we all realize he has left. They held the seat for about 20 minutes before they finally opened it back up. What a dipshit.
