I've been hearing about this thing for a few months and Ernie and Jerry have been talking about it for a while. I call Jerry and beg for an invite and then Chad and Juan (who is always up for a game) decides to come along. We call and they actually give free add-on chips to players who bring additional victims.
I meet Juan down the road from my house and leave my car at the gas station so I can drink while I'm there. I play better (live) poker when I'm drinking. I bring a bottle of Shiraz and I have a glass before I leave the house. I get to the gas station and I have to wait an hour so I go buy more wine inside and I drink a couple mini bottles before we go. Finally Juan gets there and we take off. The traffic is bad but I overestimated the drive and we're there in less than 45 mins. We show up before they start and meet everyone. We have two tables and at the last minute we change to 3 tables. They ask if anyone has dealt Holdem before and I raise my hand. As soon as they ask me if I want to deal the other table I point at Juan and say that he's a much better dealer than me. All of a sudden I feel so smart. Now I can drink and I got Juan off my table. I'm a fuckin' genius. I've heard that this game is maniacal loose for the first hour of rebuys. I push JTo from the button and they all fold. I push AA from MP and they all fold. Blinds go up and I push JTs from the button . . . Chad looks at me like he thinks I'm fucking with him and I lower the scary sunglasses. He gets nervous and folds his JTo face up. I muck mine and smile. Finally, I check my BB and flop a flush draw. I check raise all in and Chad calls with top pair. I hit and double up. Later Logan, Ernie's son, calls my push with top pair and my draw hits again. I'm big stack all of a sudden and I start bullying. I'm good at it so it goes well. Finally I'm at about 12,000 chips and I decide that I should slow down since the rebuys are over in a few minutes and I've got plenty. I limp with :Qd: :9d: ad the flop is :Qh: :7d: :3d: UTG raises and I push. He calls with :Ac: :Qc: and I miss. I should have looked at his stack before I did that. Next hand I have K5s in the BB and I limp. BB shoves for about 2X the BB so I call and all others fold. I flop 2 pair and get all excited as he shows K9 for the better two pair. Ghey! Finally the rebuys are over. I push a couple of times and steal blinds. Then Jerry busts and stands behind me while I play. I know he wants a cash game. I think I can beat him, and more importantly, I know we can get more victims if we start playing. I loosen up and bust in a hand I can't remember. Something also happened to my bottle of wine. The cash game starts with me and Jerry and then Gary Joined. I get bored and offer Logan, Ernie, Juan and Chad $50 each for half of their action in the tourney. Some of them have paid more than that but Juan, Logan and Chad accept. Chad ends up winning and I get half. Prize is $800 and he is expected to tip $80 so I split $720 and get $360. I think that's right. When the tourney breaks up the guy running the game comes to deal and informs us that we need to tip him 10% because he isn't going to rake the game. . . . . well. I happen to know that I'm going to steal two regular players from his Friday game since I just met them and I know that one lives just down the street from me. I also am having a great time and he's a good dealer. So I have no complaints. I bust and rebuy and then I rebuy again. Now I've paid $60 for the tourney, $150 for tourney side action, and $400 for the cash game ( last reload was $200) . Finally I get what I want and they have no respect whatsoever. I end up winning about $380 total profit including everything. They were a little disgusted with me at the cash game but it didn't last long enough for anyone to discover that I was actually better than them. I expect to have a couple new players at my home game. Not bad for a game I didn't even know I was gonna get to play. I'm home by 2 am and I only drove like two miles.

Thanks for the report, always interesting to read. I managed to play my regular game live today, experienced some boner variance, but eh :). You'd love it here, they are much tighter than your home games all said and done. The players are just LPA for the most part, which is really easy to play against if you are TAG.

He wants 10% of every single pot for a tip, no cap? That's gross.
Glad to see you guys made a good showing and got some fodder for the home game! Sounds like with your other home game regs steadily improving you all need some more fishies.

Yeah, he capped it at $5 max but I was tipping him more usually since I knew I was stealing a couple players from his Friday game and I wanted to be welcome back. When I did tip I'd announce out loud that over tipping was good luck so he loves me. I even had a couple guys tipping in advance in hopes of winning a pot. I was doing it in a way that would help my image a little too, throwing money around like I didn't give a shit, splashing the dealer tray with it, etc.
More later or in another section.

The tournament was a lot of fun. Eruu was a wild man as always. I saw him felt people three times (me included) when he would move all in and we would call with two pair or top pair and he would have a flush draw. I rebought three times in the first 20 minutes.
Then at break I added another 5K in chips for twenty bucks. After the break I was in the top 1/3 of chips in the tourney, so I slowed down slightly. I started playing only good starting hands but pushing them aggressively to try and win a few pots. Ended up making it to the final table which consisted of eight players. I was fourth in chips. First hand I played I had JQs in the bb, I raised 3x bb when it came back to me. Four guys call, flop comes J72, I bet the pot and one guy calls. Next card is a J, I bet something, other guy moves all in and I call. River is a blank and thief shows JK. I lose half my stack. Twenty minutes later I try to pick up the blinds with 66 all in pre-flop, one guy calls with AQ and hits Q to take the other half of my stack. There are a couple hands in here i forget, some small wins and losses. Anyways at some point the blinds are at 4k/8K and I have about 12K. I basically have given up and shove it all out there. Four people call me and start checking it down. The board is 472rainbow, then 4 then 9, I turn over 48o and collect my winnings. Now that I have lovely chips I start beating on the blinds. The guy to my left tells me basically he is going to beat my ass if I don't stop fucking with him every time he is in the blinds. The only thing i like better than poker is a good fight, especially if I think I can win. So I tell him he is a Pussy for not calling. This happens two times before he calls, at which point I had my first pocket pair AA. Now we are down to three I think. Next hand I am last to act with A4, I bet 24K and chip leader calls me. Flop comes 34J, chip leader checks, I bet 24K and he pauses then calls. Checks his cards twice before he calls and changes postion in his seat. Turn is a 2, and I bet again some where around 40k. River is a blank, so I bet again, he calls. Somewhere in this hand I put him on a three, just from the way he was squirming around. He turns over K3 and I turn over K4. Two hands later small blind moves all in and I am in the BB. He has about 20K so I call with 66. He has AK, board misses him and I put him out. Down to heads up now, first hand I am in the small blind. I have 33, and raise 40k, villian moves all in for 70k. I call and he shows AJ, flop comes 379,2,Q..I win!!!! |
