Terminal's trip report day one.
I mentioned in my response to another thread I that I didn't get to play much with Eruu and his friends. That was because we left GA at 6:00am Friday morning. I didn't go to bed till 11:PM the night before and it took me awhile to go to sleep, sometime after midnight. Then I woke up at 2:00am with a headache took some aspirin went back to sleep and then woke up again at 4:00am and could not go back to sleep, but the headache was gone so I got up. I go pick up the other guys at 6:00 and I then drive 8 hours, and I did all the driving, we went in my car and I really don't like anyone else driving it. Eruu and his friends showed up much later and by the time I moved over to the NL table they were on, I was beat and I only lasted a hour or so before I had to go to bed. We arrive about 2:00 I think and I call Biggle to let him know we are there and we go straight to the poker room. One of the guys with me is chomping at the bit to play and he gets to the desk first and gets the only seat available at the 3/6 limit table. Hollywood had a very small poker room and only one table going when we got there. A few minutes later Randy and Biggle show up and we chat a bit and wait for a table. My friend Nick , Biggle and I sit at some nickel slot machines that are right there at the poker room and play those for a bit waiting for a table.
I finally get called to the 3/6 and it was pretty standard play, don't really remember anything special. I quit a little after to 5 as there is a $50+20 tourney at 6:00 and I want to get something to eat before it starts. TK doesn't want to stop playing. I ended up losing $29.00 I know this because I bought in to the table for $100.00 and when I left I used my chip rack to buy in to the $70.00 tourney and I got one chip back. I can’t find Nick he took off after I got a seat and when they called him to play he was nowhere around. It turns out he went to the blackjack tables. I find him and tell him about the tourney and he says he will play.
I get back and play the tourney didn’t make it far, Nick knocked me out pretty quick when he caught his straight on the turn against my top pair. Randy was at my initial table but we didn’t play long before they moved us. My memory from this point on was is not very good I am starting to get tired and I started drinking a little.
After the tourney I moved back over to the 3/6 limit and the play was about the same until this really big old guy showed up that could barely walk. His play seemed to ratchet up the skinny old guy sitting next to me, from this point on you couldn’t hardly get in a pot that wasn’t at least raised once pre-flop and they got capped many times. A couple of hands I remember. The first was against Randy’s wife. At the time I wasn’t completely sure that is who she was. She was in her room when we arrived and she came down after I started playing so I hadn’t been introduced. I have J9 on the button. Randy’s wife limped and I limped and I think someone raised probably one of the old guys. So we both call. I really don’t remember the action all that well. I probably played it badly, but I ended up with a full house at the river and Randy’s wife got her straight. I put on a little act like I hated to see the J at the river but I bet anyway and she called off her last chips and it put her all-in. She wasn’t having a good time at this point she said later she had a headache and I think she had already caught a couple bad beats so I felt bad about it.
The two old guys kept making and costing me money. I finally get fed up because the big old guy starts getting lucky and he takes all my profit from the table. The last hand I play I have KQ on the button the two old guys are the SB and BB. I raise, skinny old guy calls, big old guy re-raises and I call. Flop is Kxx. They both check and I bet they both call. Another rag on the turn they check I bet they call. Then an A on the river, and I figured I just got screwed. They both check so I think I might still be good. I bet they call. Skinny old guy flips up K9 so I think I have it. Big old guy kind of slow rolls and finally flips up his AT, this is when I decide I have had enough. The NL table has a open seat so I move over there. So I leave with a profit of $3.00.
The NL table is really lively due to Eruu and his buddies. I buy the BB and I sit next to a black guy who is really chatty. I think the pot was raised I have crap so I fold and the black guy starts telling me how you got to be willing to gamble. He seemed like a nice guy and was kind of funny. The very next hand I get QQ. I raise to $10.00 I think and the black guy re-raises to $20.00, so I call. I figure he might have AK or something liker that so I decide to see the flop before I commit. The flop is all under card and rainbow, a pretty good flop for me. So I make it $20.00 and then he re-raises me to $50.00. I bought in for $100.00 so at this point it’s either push or fold. I decide to push and he calls. He flips up JJ. My queens hold up and I had him barely covered so I almost double up on my second hand A little while after this we have a bit of drama. There is a kind of big middle aged guy sitting on my right and a young kid had come in and sat down in the black guys seat on my left. I really don’t remember the action as I wasn’t paying that close attention since I wasn’t involved but the big guy and the kid end up all-in. The big guy has KK and the kid spikes an A on the flop. When the hand is over everyone is commenting on how kings suck and you can almost always count on a A coming up. The dealer then pushes the pot to the guy with KK. It gets real quiet. I figured I must have missed something because I thought a pair of Aces beat a pair of kings, but it wasn’t my money and the kid wasn’t saying anything and the big guy was starting to stack the chips. I guess everyone thought the same thing. Finally the girl sitting across from me says didn’t the other guy win, and then we all start agreeing and then the kid speaks up. The dealer admits she was wrong, and lucky the big guy was all in and he had not mixed the chips with another stack. The big guy says something like I thought I hit another king on the river. He knew he didn’t win but he was happy to take the money.
So that dealer fuck up then caused another on the very next hand. Again my memory at this point is a bit suspect but I get involved in the next hand I make a raise after it is folded to me in late position with A9. One of Eruu’s friends calls from the BB, Juan I believe was his name. Anyway the flop comes all rags one of these rags is an 8. Juan checks and before I can do anything the dealer flips out another card which is an 8. She then pulls the card back in and says that was the burn, so I bet and Juan calls again. She was still talking about the last hand where she pushed the pot to the wrong player and was distracted and not paying attention. She then puts out another card, but not the eight, I believe it was a K this time. At this point Juan gets really upset about why she is not putting that eight back out there. She explains that that became the burn, you can tell he wanted that 8 real bad. So I bet again and he folds. I kind of felt bad about that one to. The only other hands that sticks out for me was when the kid who busted the guy with KK goes all-in from UTG with about $30.00. I am in the BB and have 88, everyone fold to me. I think about it and I just had that feeling he had AK. I just couldn’t believe he would do that with a big pair. So I decide to gamble and call and sure enough he had AK suited. He spiked an A at the river and I doubled him up. The very next hand I am on tilt from losing teh race and I look down at 72 so I decide to raise it to $15.00. I get called by two players the kid I had just doubled up anoterh of Eruu's frinds I think. The flop comes all rags with a 7 so I go all-in, and everyone folds and I showed the 72. At about 1:00am I can barely hold my eyes open and have to go to bed.
My friend Nick who I mentioned earlier had lost about $180.00 playing blackjack and then he gets a huge chip lead in the tourney but ends up getting busted out before the money. So he comes over to me and says he is done he can’t afford to lose that much money and he is just whining like a little bitch. :) Anyway TK finally convinces him to play 3/6 limit. So when I get up from the NL table and look over Nick is sitting there with over $400.00 and he only bought in for $40.00. Miraculously his outlook has changed and now he is a poker god. :) I will post more about day two later.
