Live NLHE, Omaha and Tournament play
Well I almost didn't go this morning, but it turned to be a fairly profitable day at the poker room. Not so much at the cash tables but I had a nice cash in the tourney. Both of the guys that were supposed to go with me backed out. I really didn't want to drive, especially since it was poring down rain. I finally said screw and got in the car and off I went. I arrived in Jasper about 2:00PM There are three on the waiting list and I have to wait maybe 15 minutes for a table. I got very few hands and the table I was on was pretty tight. There was one total donkey sitting beside me that was complaining about how much he was down and how unlucky he was. You know the type, sees almost every flop and calls down with any draw or pair he might have. I only got one hand against him and took a few dollars, a couple of the other guys were using him like an ATM. I had basically decided before I left I was going to try their nightly tourney this time. It starts at 7:00PM. Since I was by myself and my wife is gone off this weekend I didn't have to worry about how late I stayed. At about 5:00PM they announce they have a seat at a 2/5 Omaha hi/lo table available, so I decide I am not having much luck at the NLHE and switch over. I leave the 1/2 NLHE table down about $90.00. This was my first time playing O8 live and I found myself constantly looking at my cards and trying to see what I had. I played one hand really badly and gave away a bunch. I had something like KKAT, and I flop top set. it's K57, It's checked to me and I bet and get called by everyone there were 4 in pre-flop. The turn is a 8 and it's checked to me and I bet, a fold and then a raise and then a re-raise. I slow down but the turn gets capped. I am hoping for the the board to pair on river, it does not and I for some reason keep calling the bets and raises till we are capped on the river. They both had 69 for the nut straight and I get nothing. That was the only hand I lost a bunch on. I hit set in another hand and made the full house, but it ended up boat over boat. I slowed down and just called because I had bottom set but I still lost a little on that one. I also hit nut flush on turn which also paired the board, I just called down but it gave the other guy a boat. Anyway when I leave to go play the tourney I am down about $70.00 on the Omaha table.
The tourney was a $125.00 buy-in of which $25.00 went to a bounty. Each player was given a bounty chip and when you knocked someone out you got their chip. For every person you knocked out, you got $25.00. You could keep those chips even if you didn't make the money. So I played my typical tight style and bet aggressively when I was in a pot. I didn't go to many showdowns and I actually was all-in 4 or 5 times but never got called. We finally get to the final table and I was probably the chip leader at that point. I also had 3 bounty chips. So at worst I was only down $50.00. I made one mistake which cost me a few chips at the final table. I have DA NUTZ KJs on the button. I have a couple limpers to me and I raise it up 3X. I get one caller, the BB. The flop was T93 with two of my suit. BB bets about pot size. I have a flush draw and a gutshot straight, plus two overs, so I call. The turn was a blank. BB makes a 3/4 pot size bet nothing has changed. I decide to gamble as I have a pretty decent chip stack and call again. This is where I threw away a few chips. The guy pushed in his chips and went all-in in before the river card was dealt. I had my head down and was counting my chips and the dealer says in the dark. Somehow in my fevered brain I thought she said check in the dark. Another blank on river. So she points to me and I think maybe I can steal this and bet out enough to put him all-in. Since he was already all-in this was not a well timed bluff. :) He had T, Anyway we get down to 4 and decide to chop. We each got $485.00, plus I had 3 bounty chips plus my own for another $100.00. It was right at 10:00 PM when it finishes so I call it a day.
Total profit for this session +280.00.
