The Rebel Gambler

So my home game has been getting smaller and harder over the past year. It's still very +EV for me but not as much as normal and since I stopped drinking on Jan 1 I've been 0 for about 6 sessions.
Anyhow last night a couple of buddies were out of town and only the most hardcore players were planning on showing up. Since the only players who consistently show up, the infamous Bell boys, live near a little poker room I agreed to go out there and play a $20 rebuys for an hour and add-on. I'm hoping for a good cash game afterwards. This place is a little trailer house in the woods in Magnolia, TX with some truly horrible players. The tournament was fun but I busted at about 7th of maybe 25 and joined the cash game. The game was 1/2 with no max buy in. I bought for $200 and had everyone covered. I don't remember many hands and the wife is bugging me to get away from the computer so I'll just say that I felt good about my play and that cash is so much more profitable than donkaments. Jerry "Chicken Snake" Bell chopped the tourney for first and about $600 profit. I took some of that from him in the cash game and won a good pot at the end of the night from Dirty Ernie. After generous tips and a $20 donation to some cancer benefit walkathon that the host's wife was doing I cashed $863 for $663 profit on the night. Anyhow the regular crowd from my home game gave the home team in Magnolia a nice poker lesson and fun was had by all. P.S. Random Excitement - The guy who was dealing my table through the tourney was dealing the cash game when I got there. In between hands he leaned back and put his head against the glass window. Cheap windows + black dude's ultra short haircut + a little pressure = the window shattered and when he leaned forward in his chair blood was already running onto his forehead. The cuts weren't deep but they were separated and several of us suggested that he go to the ER and get some stitches so the scar wouldn't be too nasty. He asked some guy to count his chips, went outside and cleaned it up a little and came back in to play poker for another 3 hours with blood clotted in his hair and open wounds on the top of his head. Now that's a guy with his priorities in the right place!

Nice profit. And what good poker story doesn't have a little head wound story?
