Default I'm back baby!

Last night's home game was much better than the last. I had plans of playing tight but that isn't ever going to happen. I played maniac loose (a la Tunica) and the swings were nutso but I came out in the end as I hoped. I'm running on 3 hours sleep now so I'll have to post some more later but I do recall a few hands. First let me give the general story without hands.

My wife bought the kids a new puppy while I was out of town and I have to come home from work early because the battery is dead in her car. They leave me with the puppy who is a whiny little bastard who cuts into my nap time. Plus I made a huge deal about taking him outside and letting him come back in without doing his business, then when they leave and I take him outside he just lays in the grass for a nap. :upset:

Anyhow I finally get him to fall asleep with me on the couch for a 30 min nap. We start a little short handed but after my huge loss last week everyone seems to have a friend who wants to play. We lose a couple regulars to deer season and pre holiday vacations so the cast is a motley mix of seasoned regulars and fresh meat.

The cast:
Ernie: Evil sneaky cowboy welder who won about $1400 in my meltdown last week.
Preacher: Evil villain who took money from church going old ladies in a former life.
Jerry: Nice guy who brought free ribs even though he tried bust me at every turn and seems to actually target me when I'm at my drunkest.
Juan: Good guy (he brought homemade tamales and dealt the game for us) but he bluffed me off the best hand in the very last minutes of the game.
Johnathan: Preacher's buddy who we've played with only a few times. He calls too much but he'll fold to big bets because he doesn't have a huge roll to play with.
Matt: Preacher's buddy who seemed to have a relatively good understanding of the game. He played pretty tight so I didn't clash with him much.
Mike: Ernie's buddy who saw his fat bankroll last week and thought I was passing out Benjamins like cotton candy at the county fair, which I actually was last week but not last niight.
Jason: Regular who plays well until he gets tired and then throws money at the pot for an excuse to go home (Sky biscuit).

There were more. I hope to fill in the blanks later.

I started off decently but pretty aggressive and ran up a decent stack and then lost a couple pushed draws. After a two rebuys I sort of stalled out and started playing a short stack strategy which was a little weird for me because I am usually trying to get them to allow me to buy in heavy so I'll have the max. I showed probably every decent hand that I won for the first two hours so they
would give me some respect. It didn't work. They still viewed me as a victim and everyone was playing back at me. At least three times I got it all in with the best hand and lost. Finally when I'm down about $300 I buy in for two and go on a sick run of cards.

I bust Mike and he goes home. I bust Ernie and re reloads. I bust Matt and he goes home. Johnathan busts in a big multiway pot that i won and he stays there and watches the hands (I'm showing him some) for a while but he is done. I bust Juan and loan him a rebuy then bust him again and he leaves . . . . he comes back in before the next hand is dealt because he can't leave this loose game and I give him $300 so it will be an even $500 that he owes me.

In the end I was up a little over $1000 (EDIT: Make that $555. My delirious miscount was due to Juan paying back the $500 loan when I cashed him out at the end of the night). My style, which is so much fun, convinces opponents that I'm a total retard and I was getting the max on my good hands. I also lost a good bit back in failed bluffs because my style allows them to trap me so easily. When I was on a rush I'd get some repect and make some money on bluffs when I sensed weakness.

Some hands:

Once I call a $8 raise with K4s in the BB and flop a flush draw. Juan raises to $25 and I get ready to fold. Then there are two callers and an all in of only about $80 more so I think I have to call this one. I call and there are 3 side pots before we're done. I'm relieved to see that I'm the only flush draw but it doesn't hit and big stack wins with two pair.

Ernie calls my short stack push with KJ while I have AT. I flop a T and he rivers a J. This puts me down $300 on the night and I actually get worried that I could be looking at another blowout.

After that I reload to $300 (with permission) and start a sick run of cards. I don't recall them all since I was playing every hand but I hit a couple of draws and then won about 9 hands in a row including a monster when I busted both of the Bell boys. I'll have to finish this later. I'm falling asleep . . .

Notes for the conclusion . . . I bust both bell boys, I suck out on Matt, I pay off Jerry's quads, I almost bust Jerry but not quite . . . DAMN HIM! I play shit to a raise and out flop QQ.

Ernie helped me correct my profit count (edited above) to $500-ish because he was keeping up with who lost what. Most importantly he lost about what I won

Referring to the above list of reminders, I didn't really bust the Bell boys. I busted Ernie but Jerry had a good night and I only doubled through him.

I can't really remember the hand but I think it was the one where I played 54h and flopped a flush draw. I semi bluff my draw, Ernie pushes and Jerry calls so I call. I push the river when my flush hits and Jerry has to call because there is so much in already and I get paid. I think he may have had a straight there.

One hand when I caught Juan: I am dealt 73o on the button and I'd won a few in a row so I made a crazy call of $10 preflop because I had position and there were 4 people in already. I was really planning a bluff because I'd shown some good hands. I show the hand to Johnathan preflop since he isn't playing. The flop comes out J73 rainbow and I pretend to ignore it. Dumbass (who will never see one of my hands again) elbows me and says OMG! loud enough for everyone to hear. We get it all in on the turn and Juan shows QQ. I get cash plus my retardo image is confirmed.

Another time I river the nuts (I forget the exact hand again) but Jerry is able to get away from one I'd have paid off. I'll edit if I remember this one because it was nuts, at least in my mind.

I can't remember the hand I sucked out on Matt with. I just remember telling him as he left that he got sucked out on and the rest of these idiots got outplayed. Yes they were still sitting in front of me.

There were two hands in a row that I called down with middle pair and caught bluffs. In each case I showed one of my cards to the villain and he talked too much. First Juan and then Ernie. I assume that I'm picking up on a tell of some sort. These guys can be tricky but they will automatically react in a way that is opposite of their hand. Actually, Juan didn't but I could tell that his reaction was preplanned because it began before he even saw the card.

My biggest loss came after I was on a huge rush and I played K4s OOP three handed. Jerry cold called my raise and the flop is KKQ with two clubs; I have none. I check, he bets $25 and I call, slow playing it. The turn is a blank and he bets $50; I call. The river is a Qc and I don't even notice that I have a boat. I bet $100 because I don't see the boat and I'm scared of the flush (hey it's 4 am!). It's mostly a value bet but he has to have something and when he reraises all in for another $420 I'm scared. I start cursing and talking about the flush. I finally notice that I have Kings full when he says, "I think you have the flush beat if you aren't folding, John". I insta call when I see this expecting to split and hoping that he has a Q instead of the other K. He does indeed have a Q . . . two of them. Second nuts is no good. and I lose a $1000 pot. This is the reason I won less than I thought.

I won a few hands more and I knew that I had a healthy profit in front of me. Juan and Jerry were the only opponents left and only Juan was down. He'd borrowed $500 from me but he wasn't doing too bad since the last loan. Jerry looked up at me after a few pots that we all limp-checked down with no betting and asked if we should cash out. I agreed and Juan says, "No boy! I say 8 minutes!" (evidently it's 8 til 5am). We laugh because we understand that he wants to get even and we agree because it's only a couple more hands. On the very last hand I flop middle pair with T9o and fire $25. Juan calls and I fire $50 on a blank turn. Juan reraises all in and I muck it. He shows the bluff and pays back my $500 loan out of his chips (I put this $500 in the wrong pocket and that is where my miscount came in). :banghead: I'd caught him once earlier but I couldn't call that on the last hand of the night. Nice bet, pinche buey!

Anyhow I was playing my best and favorite game. As usual I could have done better but the mistakes probably got me paid more than they cost me.

One note about Jerry: I think there was a hand where I rivered a flush and he mucked a straight. How do you fucking do that on this table!?!?!? I should have been paid on that one. He got away from a couple that I couldn't have and that's why the boat with second nuts scared me. I felt something was wrong but I wasn't folding KKKQQ no matter what happened. Anyhow if the chicken snake (Jerry) is reading this . . . I want to felt you so bad!

The reason I can't remember what I won or lost within $500 bucks is twofold. First, I'm drinking, and second, going all in with $75 feels just as dramatic as doing it with $500 so I remember the drama more than the actual money. It still seems nuts but that's how it is.
