Holy cow, I felt like I had been raped after I left there this weekend, and not in a good way. TK and I went to Jasper this Saturday, mainly to hit the tournament but also to play some cash games. Those that went to Tunica met TK. They have started playing 2/5 NL and that seems to be the game of choice now. They had 2 tables of 2/5 going when we arrived and about 10 minutes later they started a new one. I thought this was good, that way I wasn't up against any huge stacks everyone had to start with the same amount. Wasn't getting any hands and then I look down and see KK in the SB. UTG raises to 20 and all fold to button and he calls. At this point I have about $75.00 so I decide to just push it in. UTG then goes all-in, and the button folds. UTG has AA and I pull out another buy-in.
Everyone at this table were pretty decent players, excluding me of course, but they did like to gamble. So on to my second buy-in. I think by this point I had made a couple of $40.00 buy-ins to keep my stack up. Just from blinds and getting involved to the turn with big draws that never happened. So I am in the BB with A

T

and there are three limpers. UTG, an MP and the button. So I make it $15.00 to go. UTG calls, and the MP who only has about $40 left goes all-in. He was probably the worst player at the table and really liked to gamble. So I thought it would be a coin flip, low PP or I had him dominated with a bigger A. He would have raised with AJ+. Everyone folds to me and I decide to try and isolate against him and I push all-in for about $80.00. Only UTG is left, well he calls. UTG has QJo and MP had KJo. So feeling pretty good about it, but the Q on the flop soon takes that away.
KJ cost me a few $$ as well in two hands. Both times I am BB and I check my option. I hit top pair both times. I bet out and in both instances someone who had me covered went all-in behind. Once the flop was all clubs, and I have none and the tightest player at the table went all-in. I folded and he showed he had K5. He said he thought he had two pair. I had him beat but his 5 was a club, so anoterh club probably would have come off if I called. In the other case the flop was a K6x and guy showed one six and then a little later said he had 66. I didn’t ask what he had, he just told me. I may have been bluffed out there as well.
The proverbial straw came after I went to the ATM to get some more cash, because as it stood I wasn’t going to have enough to play the tournament. I sit back down and a few hands later I get AA. I get 3 or 4 limpers and I make $15.00 from the button, probably should have raised a bit more. I get two callers. The flop is 568. Fuck me. So I decide to just push it and sure enough the big stack who called says I know you have me but I will give you some action, he has 78o. He hits his 9 on the river and I decide I have had enough of this. It is still about and hour and a half before the tourney starts and the high hand jackpot is at $50,000 so I decide to sit at the 1/2 limit game until the tourney starts. Nothing exciting happens here, and I lose about $25.00. While I am sitting there a guy at another 1/2 limit table hits the high hand. Every time I go there someone hits it. Also usually when it’s really big, the winner will give everyone at the table a little. Just to show how my luck goes at these things, I was there at the end of last year and the hand was hit at my table, but it had just been won the week before and it was only about $2500.00, so of coarse no one at our table got anything.
So on to the tourney, this will be quick. Third hand in I get K

K

. We all know where this is going don’t we. I raise from the cutoff and I have two callers. I don’t remember exactly what the flop was but it contained two hearts. Both check, I bet the pot and I get one caller. The flop is K

, He checks, so I bet the pot again and another call. I hope the river pairs the board but it doesn’t, it’s a rag and I just hope he has two pair. He checks, I go all-in and he calls with 7

9

. Tourney done.
TK ended up making it to the final table and got 4th so I had to find something to do for a couple hours. So I decide to play 1/2 NL. I do really well and at one point have about $600.00 in front of me. I really don’t want to get into the details it’s too painful. When I left I had $0.00 in front of me. There was a set over set and a full house over trips which the he got at the river. And two pair over two pair against another big chip stack.
So I left -$900 for the day.
