Re: Going to try a new poker room tomorrow
This was pretty nice room. A little bigger than Monticello but not as big as Jacksonville. Seemed much more professional than the room in Monticello. They have no comps the rake was pretty standard. $1 Min and $5 Max. They took 1$ from the rake if over $1.00 and put it towards a jackpot hand. They said it was up to $27,000.00, and I guess so because it you have to hit a Spade royal flush to get it. Also two of the cards must be in your hand. So that should be a tough one. This room had several games going, some limit, no-limit and they got a Omaha game up for awhile, but the dealer said it never last more than about an hour before it breaks up. I thought I might like to try some live Omaha, but it was 2/5 limit so I just stuck with Hold-em.
It was the typical table, a mixture of major calling stations and some good players. No real certified maniacs. I could have won a nice pot my very first hand but I wasn't willing to call a $15.00 raise with A2o. The flop has two aces and the raiser had KK. I did really well for the first three hours I was up probably $200 to $250. A couple of big hands I remember. One of my first big wins. I have :Ah: :Th: in the big blind and there are 5 or 6 limpers so I decide to raise to $15.00. I get two callers. The flop is :Jc: :Kh: :Qs:, bingo!! The two players that call are pretty big calling stations and I decide to just bet out. I bet $20.00 and they both call. The flop is some rag but it does put up a possible flush draw. I am not worried about that though. These two guys seem married to their hands and if they liked them at the flop that shouldn't have changed with the turn. So I bet $40.00. One calls and one folds. The river doesn't change anything and I put the guy all in for about another $40.00 I think. He doesn't think very long and calls. He had two pair Ks and Qs. There were quite a few players who really thought alot of two pair. My first big loss was a poor play on my part. An older guy two positions to my right leads out for $12.00, I look down and I have JJ. I am felling pretty invincible at this point. I have won almost every showdown I have been to. I re-raise him $25.00 more. He immediately goes all-in. He is kind of short stacked and it's about $30.00 more to call. I kinda of feel like he is gonna turn over As or Ks but I call anyway I am getting better than 2:1. He has As and I lose about $90.00.
Another big loss was when hillbilly Joe joins the table. He is about 6'5" wearing a down vest a camouflaged hat turned around backwards and has a pony tail. He also looks like he is chewing tobacco, but he has no spit cup and I never saw him spit so I guess it was just a big wad of gum. Right after he sits down you can see he doesn't have a great deal of experience, he keeps going out of turn he keeps his chips in a mixed pile in front of him. So every time he bets we have to wait for him to dig through the pile to find what he wants. He hasn't been at the table long when I get AQ suited on the button. there are several limpers and I raise to $15.00. I lose a couple and it's down to just me and hillbilly Joe. The flop is rags with a T. I make a c-bet of $25.00 and he calls. The turn is a Q so I bet $40.00. He thinks for a minute and goes all-in. It's about $40.00 for me to call. So I call and he has KJo. He hits a K on the river and doubles up. A few hands after this he hits a set of As against another big stack who has AK and doubles through again. I then get a little back a few hands later. Hillbilly and couple others limp and I have KK. So I raise to $20.00, because I have yet to see him limp in and fold to any raise. Sure enough he calls. The flop is JQ4. SO I bet $50.00 and he calls. Then a K on the river. That was kind of a blessing and a curse. So I decide to just push and I go all-in for about $110.00 he thinks about it a long time but finally folds. He didn't show but the guy next to hims said he saw his cards and he had a K4. I guess I should have slowed down a little and tried to extract more from him. Right after this hand he leaves. It takes him forever to gather up his chips he doesn't want a rack and he finally gets them all up in his hands and leaves. He did pretty well though I imagine he made about $200.00 in less than 30 minutes.
I wanted to leave around 5:00 or 6:00 and I would have been up about $200.00 at that point, but my buddy who drove wants to play late and I told him I would stay as late as he wanted since he was driving. Finally at about 9:15 he comes over and says he is done I have just paid the BB so I say as soon as the blinds come around I will leave. At this point I am just about even. I might be up $20.00. So about 2 hands before the BB hits me again I get 55. The newest guy at the table who seems very solid raises to $7.00. I call and so does one other. The flop is TJ5. New guy is first to act and he checks. I bet out $20.00 they both call. The turn is a Q. It's never fucking easy. So I figure I am just going to go home down my original $100.00 buy-in. New guy checks again and I bet $40.00, the other guy in the hand calls putting him all-in for about $25.00, so I figure maybe I will at least win the side pot. The new guy seems uneasy but he calls. The river is a K. :banghead: New guy checks to me, so I just give up and check. Well it turns out they both had two pair. The other guy hit two pair on the flop he had TJ and the new guy had KJ. Not sure if he would have called a bet on the river but I felt he at least had an A and either he figured I did as well and was checking for the split or he was trying to bait me into betting again. Either way I didn't have the balls to throw another bet out. So the blind hits me two hands later and I leave. Bought in for $100.00 and left with $202.00. So after paying for half the gas it's about $80 profit. Not a outstanding day but at least I made something.
Sorry no bathroom story.
