Durana's Trip Report
For all of you who don't know, I am Randy's wife Durana a/k/a sweet pea to Eruu. I love playing poker probably as much or even more than Randy does. So, it works out pretty well for us.
We had a great time meeting and playing poker with everyone. I have read the forum for years, but I have never posted. I thought that I could fill in a few of the blanks for everyone.
Terminal referred to a hand where I hit my straight on the river and he took the rest of the chips I had at the table. Don't feel bad Terminal. I wasn't mad. I just had a horrible headache. I had 7d and 8d and the flop comes 9d, 10d, and some other card. So, I flop an open ended straight flush draw. I think the turn is another 9 and the river is a J. So, the river gave me my straight but not the straight flush that I wanted. I knew that someone could have me beat, but it's hard to lay down in limit.
Randy and I always play poker when we go to the casinos. I always stick with fixed limit and he likes to play no limit. I play no limit on the computer but for someone reason no limit intimidates me live.
We arrived on Thursday and played until after 6 Friday morning. We slept for a few hours and then Biggle called. So, Randy got in the shower and we went to have breakfast with Biggle. During breakfast, I get a call from our oldest son. He is at school and he is hurt. He was playing football and somehow ran into a pole. A screw on the pole entered right below his eye. My dad is on the way to get him and take him to the emergency room. So, my day did not start out well. I was very stressed for the first part of the day which I have no doubt caused my migraine later on.
I played at the limit tables most of the day besides the tournament that Randy, Biggle, Terminal, Terminal's friends, and I played in. I did not do well in the tournament.
About 4:00 Saturday morning, I was really tired of playing poker. So, I got up from the table and wandered over to the no limit table to check on Randy. The table had been really loud all night. They were having way too much fun. Eruu kept begging me to stay at the table because he wanted me to see him take all of Randy's money.
I decided to go play some wheel of fortune slots for a little bit. I play for probably an hour and go back to the no limit table. At this point, it is Randy, Jason, Eruu, and one other guy playing at the table. None of them are playing right. They are just nuts. I felt sorry for the other guy at the table. Jason kept asking me to play with them. So, finally I bought in and sat down to the left of Eruu. My first hand dealt, I am in the big blind and Eruu is in the little blind. I am dealt AK. I think Eruu was soft playing because I'm a girl because he just limped in. I raised to 15 and Eruu and the other guy at the table called. The flop comes Q J ?. Eruu checks, I bet $20 and Eruu and the other guy both fold. Eruu could not remember my name so, he named me sweet pea.
A few hands later, I am dealt Kd and 4d. I know that this is not a great hand, but the table is nuts. Randy raises to $25 preflop. Eruu calls the raise from the little blind and I call the raise from the big blind. Randy is cursing cuz we both call. The flop comes 3 5 6. Eruu fires $30 at the pot. I call and Randy calls. The turn is a 2. I hit my straight. Eruu picks up a stack of chips and says I bet this much. I move all in. Randy curses flashes his cards to Jason and folds. Eruu had thrown $55 out in the stack. I have a total of $59 so he calls the extra $4. I'm not sure what the river was, but I won the pot. After the had is over we learn that Randy had pocket Qs. Eruu had K3os and I have K4 suited. It was pretty funny. Randy was not happy.
Then we get a new guy to the table. He is a little skinny guy with glasses. He was probably in his early 50s. He sits down at the table and tells us he had just left Sams Town because the poker action had died out. We play a couple of hands and then Eruu raises to $20 preflop. I called with K8 suited and the other guy calls. The flop comes JJJ. Eruu throws out a stack of chips and says "I bet this much" I think it was about $50. I"m not real sure. I didn't think Eruu had a Jack, but I also knew that an ace had me beat so, I laid it down. The other guy calls. The turn is a 6. Eruu goes all in for about $140. The other guy sits there forever trying to decide if he is going to call. He keeps saying "I know I have the best hand but I don't want to call that much money" Jason tells him that you can't play poker scared so finally the guy calls. They flip up their cards. Eruu shows a 64os and the other guy has A7os. Eruu wins the hand with a fullhouse and I thought the guy was going to cry. He had 2 chips left in front of him. He throws the chips at the dealer and walks off hastily. It was hilarious. The river was an 8 which means I would have won the pot, but there was no way I was calling all of that with King high. I can not believe the other guy called all of it with ace high. added details Eruu picks up the chips he has just won and starts splashing them all over his face. We're all laughing and Jason is telling him to start drinking alcohol quick to kill all the germs he just got in his mouth. Then Jason starts telling us that he thinks the guy is going to build a bomb and blow us all up. It was sooooo hilarious.
The cocktail waitress starting coming by very frequently because Eruu was giving her great tips and Randy was also tipping her to keep Eruu in liquor.
Eruu starting also giving her a $5 chip every time she came by to stand there and watch him play a hand because she was good luck. :)
Those are just the hands that stand out in my mind. It was a great trip. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and hope that we can do it again soon.
