Default For you computer gurus. need your help!!!!!

Ok, been working on my wifes computer for 2 days now... :banghead: :banghead:

She can do her thing for awhile and then bang... Visual C++ Overrun error.. Explorer locks up, Do Cntrl/Alt/Delete to shut it down and then the whole desktop goes black.

I have went through and uninstalled every bullshit program i could find. Have run virus scan, adaware spyware removal, CCleaner, and went through and deleted bullshit left over files..

Same damn thing keeps happening. searched the internet but have not really found anything yet.. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Any ideas????????

Buffer Overruns are the result when a very poorly written program runs, OR a result of some kind of SpyWare in your computer. If you've done a thorough check for spyware and it comes uo clean, then maybe you could try a "system restore" if it's Windows XP?

Most of the time, it's not usually worth the time an effort it takes to completely clean the computer from MAJOR Spyware problems. Often it's quicker and will be a better result by just wiping it out and starting over from a system recovery CD (if you have one) or a reload of Windows XP and EVERYTHING else.

For example, it may take 10 or more hours to try different types of scans and removal tools when you could probably back up everything you have and re-install everything in like 4 or 5 hours max.
Sorry for the bad news dude?

If you bring it to me I'll do it for free

Sounds like it's time to reinstall the system, I'd be worried about some malware.

Sounds to me like an intermittent ram fault. I'd download memtest86, and run it overnight.

holly begeezzus bat man!

Downloaded the newest version of of Ad Aware and ran it. 1 hour later,450 spy wares found. During the running of Ad Aware it must have stirred files up because the anti virus picked up 5 viruses that it wasnt picking up before! :banghead: :banghead:

so 5 hours later have rerun every cleaner i have and it seems to be working ok!

Guess I will still look at getting a new operating system though.... Just in case...
If I would stop loosing my ass on poker!!! :banghead: :banghead: Man it has been a bad week!! :upset: :upset: :upset:
