Hey what do you know, Dallas allowed Detroit to play their game yet again. Add that to the fact that Detroit is made of pure gold (and by "gold" I quite literally mean Jamie Gold) and all the breaks go their way, I predict they will close it out in 4, and beat the Pen's in 6.

I'm thinking both sweep into the finals. I really didn't think the Pens would sweep...now I almost don't see how they won't. They just shut down the Flyers totally. 5 Flyer shots in the 1st period...3 in the 2nd. Now, I'm finally getting excited. Looks like I finally will see a Stanley Cup Final game in person.

The Pitt defense has completely shut down the Flyers. They cannot or will not get the puck deep. I've never seen so many turnovers. I will be very surprised if the Flyers can win tomorrow. Yes I am bummed out, but the Flyers were the WORST team in the league last year. To make it to the final 4 is farther than anyone could have expected. |

Are the Rangers out of it?

Flyers show signs of life and force another game. Both of the defensemen that they lost for the first 4 games are coming back tomorrow. If the Flyers win this one we have a series.
Finally the Flyers played their physical game, dump and chase hockey...... |

The Pens did the same thing against the Rangers in their last game 4...no fire, no intensity, no urgency. I was surprised they repeated this mistake. I doubt they will repeat it today. That's not to say the Flyers didn't play well. They did. The Pens didn't play their game until the 3rd period.
Like I said before, the Pens haven't lost two games in a row for a long time. I think they end it today. Then again, I thought they would end it the other night. Mike can appreciate this...me growing up a Philly sports fan, I never really believe our team is as good as others may think. I refused to give in to the early hype that the Pens might actually sweep the Flyers. Not that I predicted gloom and doom...it's hard to explain the Philly sports team mentality. Then they went up 3-0 and I finally let myself enjoy it and drank the Kool Aid and declared a sweep is going to happen. And they lose. Philly sports fans are never happy...they're relieved when their team wins. Now I just want the Pens to end it today so I can briefly enjoy the Stanley Cup Finals before they actually start. On the other end, how 'bout them Stars? Didn't get to see much of the game, but that would be exciting to see them go to a game 7.

I feel bad for the Flyers. They had a great run and a great turn-around season from last year. But to lose 6-0 and lose the series 4-1. That's a bad ending. But they'll get over it and realize what a season they ended up with...from worst in the league last year to Eastern Conference finals.
I had wanted to get an Eastern Conference champs shirt, but so far all they have is a white t-shirt. I really don't wear t-shirts, except to bed. Well, I mean, a lot of my warmer weather shirts are t-shirt like, but not, um, you know...novelty t-shirts. Anyway, I would really like a long-sleeve T or better yet, a sweatshirt so I can wear it to the games next year. But I get the feeling they're not going to make them because it's almost June. I think this week I am going to get a Pens jersey thou. Was thinking Crosby, but maybe a Staal instead. Can't wait for the Finals! So excited to actually be able to see a Finals game live. If the Pens don't win, I at least want the deciding game to be in Pittsburgh so I can see the Cup and all the festivities. 4-0 Red Wings halfway thru the game as I write this. Looks like Pens/Red Wings starting Saturday in Detroit. I think the Pens can win. I don't think Osgood is that good and I don't think the Red Wings have faced a team like the Pens yet this playoff year. Don't call me a homer. I know the Red Wings won the President's trophy and they have a great defense, plus Zetterburg and Datsyuk. But the Pens are on such a roll. Should be a good series.
