My boss said I can get a cordless mouse. I really like my logitech mx1000. Is there a better one?

I have a pretty plain logitech laser mouse and I love it. I googled the mx100. What is that thing on the side of it? If I get too many buttons and knobs I get confused.

The button on the side can be used to switch programs (like from word to excel). I really like the comfort of it. The thumb rest below the buttons is really nice.

Quick update. We got the Logitech MX revolution and it's even better than the MX1000.

Scroll wheel has a fast option. When you spin it fast it auto goes really fast but auto goes back to normal when it stops spinning. It’s hard to explain but nice. Some more programmable buttons if you’re into that. The main reason I like is that it’s really comfy and a laser.
