Well I might be leaving for Bagdad, Iraq in August. I have the opportunity to do computer repair (desktops, laptops, and printers). I will be there as a civilian employee but live and work right on the base. Opportunity to make some big bucks. Will have to be there for 179 days. Not an easy thing to do with 2 kids and loving wife. But the money will help us out. I have been thinking about this a lot for awhile now. I started here at Tobyhanna Army Depot in December.
Basically work 12 hour days, 7 days a week. 70% pay differential for hazzard pay. I will also get bumped up a grade which means a few more dollars an hour. Internet access will be provided so maybe I will have more time to play some online poker again and can get back into it. I should still be able to access the forum and have more time for poker study. If anyone is interested in my adventure I can try to write a blog here. May not be that much poker related though. Not sure how all that will work out and how much free time I will really have. I will keep you posted as time passes. I started the process to get my passport. |

Wow, that is some decision. You're very brave. I'm sure our troops will take good care of you. Good luck!
Edit: on a much less serious (and much needed comical note... maybe they'll teach you how to spell Baghdad. Just kiddin' man. Stay Safe. You have mucho more balls than me. ![]()

Thanks for the kind words. This is no easy decision and has been on my mind for quite awhile. I would say I am at about 85% sure that I will go, up from 75% last week
Thanks BigL did not even realize the typo lol. Well I don't need to know how to spell it, not a job requirement It is only 6000 miles from home Distance between Philadelphia and Baghdad |
