Default Poker After Dark about to get good

Poker News - New Poker After Dark to Premiere July 15 with a Cash Game

It's turning into a $200/$400 cash game this season starting off with a table with both Hellmuth and Dwan... should be good! I was talking to someone who works on the production of this show and also High Stakes Poker last week and I was bitching about them cancelling HSP and he said "Do you watch Poker After Dark?" and kind of smiled, but he chose not to tell me anything specific at the time. I'm too dumb to get anything so subtle.

Hell yes! I love watching high stakes cash games, I'm glad PAD is going in this direction!

Lol I posted about this months ago johnny. You must have me on ignore

I am really really looking forward to it myself, I miss HSP, and PAD is a higher quality production imo (less babbling commentary, they show all the hands and not just the highlights) so even if I don't watch them at their air time I'll be sure to DVR or download 'em.

Hey, the great thing about getting old and losing your brain cells is that everything is new every morning.

Basically, as I understand it, new guy took over GSN and wants to cut back on the gambling type shows. Somebody has to take over HSP...it's too popular as a poker show for someone not to pick it up. I just don't know who.

I guess I am there with you cause I had no idea either. I hope someone picks it up, in fact I am glad it's being taken off GSN, I don't get that channel, unless I want to subscribe to another tier on my cable and it's dam expensive enough as it is. Maybe it will be on a channel I get when and if it comes back. I would watch poker after dark if it were a cash game, but I would miss listening to Gabe Kaplan, I really liked his commentary.

Yeah, I didn't hear about it too much either until the poker podcasts I listen to started talking about it (I'm a few weeks behind on my listening). I think Johnny sorta mentioned once somewhere.

I have yet to watch PAD, but will set the DVR for the cash game week.

I wonder to what end they play to determine the winner. I mean will they allow reloads? I guess I could look it up but I'm way too lazy today.

If it's a cash game then you just watch it for the fun of watching a cash game. Players come, go, and rebuy as they please. There isn't an end winner. However, I'm sure there will be some great moments to watch like when Benyamine looked sick when shoving on Guy and Guy let him take a bunch of his bet back if he gave up the hand there, or the jawing between Sammy and Jamie Gold. Also, I'm sure there will be tension between Hellmuth and Dwan with Hellmuth using his mouth and Dwan pretending he doesn't care and shooting back wisecracks.

The guy who I know that works on PAD also worked on HSP. Making a guess from that fact, I assume that one production company made both shows and had the PAD format because they already had HSP, but when HSP got cancelled they moved PAD to the more popular format using it as the replacement for HSP. That is pure speculation, however.
