Default June Graphs & Results, July Goals

June Goals thread is here.

Goals for June:
- Take the first day or two off [x]
- Get rid of FPS [x]
- Stop doing the non-hand related things that affect my game I don't remember what this was
- 20k hands Hit 27k hands
- Every time I'm in a hand, evaluate what the minimum is I would need to get all in and be ahead of my opponent's range, and play accordingly Aka, SPR. [x]
- Don't let downswings affect my psychological game Ran good, played gooder

And now the graph:

Upswongs are fun!

July Goals:
- 40k hands
- Focus on LP aggression and c-betting
- 5bb/100
- Be at least break even for non-showdown pots
- Increase BR by $400+/Be rolled for 50NL (but I plan on playing 100K at 25NL before moving up)

Aaaannnd.....Go!

Re: sevens - awesome job dude, good to see things beginning to take off for you. I would caution you against worrying about being break-even in non-sd pots, however. Your wwsf and your $ won/lost in non-sd pots are certainly good indicators of how effectively you use postflop aggression, but the looser the games you play in are, the more money is going to come from showdown pots. I've stopped worrying about it altogether myself and I'm just sticking to playing each poker hand the best way I can and that stuff can sort itself out. When I was worrying about it a few months ago, I found myself more apt to make a bad calldown or a bad pay-off on the river because I so hated to fold money away - it definitely can hurt more than it helps. So yes, play aggressive, look for spots, make more thin value bets, but don't get obsessed with your w$w/osd because it will drive you crazy and ultimately may not even help your winrate. If you game select well and you aren't playing mid-stakes (2/4nl or higher) I would hazard to say it's not even going to be optimal to have a positive w$w/osd over a long stretch... I'm not even close to even these last couple of months but I am still winning at a very healthy clip at 200nl.

I think my goal starting the month was basically to play 25k hands and hopefully win. My month started well. Then I started mixing in some 2/3NL on Bodog and all hell broke loose. The games were soft, the buy-in was only a little more, etc. but as it turns out I feel pretty dumb about it. I didn't have nearly the bankroll I would have wanted to take a proper shot, and history should have told me that I suck at just "mixing in games" gradually. I lost $1500 at 2/3NL in only 500 hands, which really cramped my style However, I won $4410 in just under 24k hands at 1/2NL thanks to a nice heater last week, and I ran like GOD at 100NL HU, winning $677 in 608 hands. I made $480 in FTP bonus and about $530 in rakeback for about $1k total in bonus/rb. Graph of all limits:

Goals for July: 20k hands, at least 90% 200NL and the rest 100NL HU. Clear my mid-year ironman bonus, but that should easily happen in the normal course of play, I figure about 15k hands should do it. Not shooting for 25k hands because I have to go in Thursday to have my wisdom teeth extracted which will put me out of commission for several days, not to mention giving me a shitty July 4th . I might still make it to 25k as the kids are out of school and my daughter's softball season is over, giving me ample time, and my MT ratio has been up a little bit lately.

Thanks, and thanks for the heads up. I was only concerned about it because I was nut peddling for alot of June, and in between the times I'd flop a big hand, my money won would show a slow decrease, and my $ won w/o SD reflected that. I reasoned that if I could have a solid LP aggression game, the times where I have to fold medium strength hands would be balanced out by the small pots I pull in from BTN and CO, and I could hope to be break even in non SD pots.

edit: lol Just from my experience playing against you in the forum donkament, I bet playing HU against you is a riot!

Oh you definitely want to steal like a bandit in LP. I do, my att to steal is upwards of 35%. But it's not quite enough to make up for what I lose w/out sd in the blinds. Positionally I win w/o sd in every position except the blinds, and I win more than half of what I post in the blinds back, so I'm pretty sure I'm playing close to optimally for the games I play in (I'm a table selection nit.) I do need to do a bit more restealing from the blinds I think, and I should look to fire more second barrels against reasonable opponents when I know they can't take heat, but even if I can make those adjustments it's not going to completely offset it.

There are guys who don't really table select and just LAG it up vs. all the weak-tight players and they do really well, but I think such a change in approach dictates more focus and less tables, so I think a decent player makes a better hourly playing TAG at micros and ssnl fwiw.

Edit: also, to add to my goals, I want to make a vid if I can get camtasia to cooperate. Between crappy framerates and sync problems I have not had a successful test run yet, but I'll keep trying.

My interest in poker continues its downward spiral. I played almost exactly 2 hours the entire month (single table) and won like $10 ($10NL).

July...go play some live poker this Sunday in WV.

I had a slightly positive month, up about $250.00. It was due to live play, my two poker room trips and the home game. I played mostly tourneys this month online and was slightly up about $60.00, but I played the $109.00 tourney on PS and didn't cash at the end of the month which put my online tourney profits in the red. I again lost my ass at the online cash games. I just played enough to keep my silver star status and then pretty much stopped playing cash games. My July goal is to not lose alot.
