Yeah. It's down for me too. System status thinks otherwise: http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/systemStatus.php

Thank god it's not just me. I was gonna be super pissed if I couldn't play poker for the next couple days because of some stupid BS.

It better be back up by tonight I got a good system going for this stupid Irom Man shit. Every other night I play from roughly 10:30pm to 1:30am on 6 to 8 tables. Works out that I clear 200 points for two days in one session. So far 13 for 13 @ 200 points not counting today. Johhny, Mirage, or any other Full Tilt regular is this Iron Man promotion worth the time? I am looking at picking a site where I will be spending the majority of 2008 playing. I started a little late for Iron Man this year as I only played a few days in November, but have been on track for all of December. However, more than likely I will split my play roughly 50/50 between FTP and Stars as one of my goals is to make Supernova in 2008.

I haven't put much thought into whether the promotion is in itself worth the time, but I put in so many hands anyway I have no reason not to do it. The rakeback is great on FT because 27% generated rakeback works out to about 40% contributed, at least for me, and we play the same stakes. Any incentives on top of that are icing on the cake.

Also, they are giving a special bonus to Ironman participants in January according to what levels you attained and how many times. I just hope it doesn't make the games super tough in January while everyone rushes to clear it!

I investigated Stars too for the upcoming year because their rewards seemed better, however I just can't stand the site. Actually I shoud say the tables and the lobby. I hate how the lobby keeps jumping around and clicking on a table is like a mini-game. I dislike the frequency in which players there jump around the tables. On Tilt I can get on a table and play it for hours. On Stars I have to keep switching myself because the VPs keep plummeting. I finally give up and finish clearing my bonuses playing 2/4 limit.

As for the rewards, the rakeback plus iron man plus other promotions makes it a wash until you would get past Supernova and without having to play your ass off. You have to elect to be part of the Iron Man promotion every month and decide if you want extra Iron Man medals or the freeroll. For Iron Man status (the highest one), which you get by accumulating 200 points per day for 25 days each month, the freeroll is $30k per month and the months I have played in it there were about 250 players. It pays out something like 30% so it's not too difficult to cash in. They threw a couple $600 bonuses at me during the year, and while it true that it comes off your rakeback it doesn't come off 100% so it's still extra value.

As part of their Iron Man promotion this year they are giving a bonus to clear in January based on how many months during the year you achieved an Iron Man status. So, starting Jan 1st, I'll be clearing a $900 bonus which will be calculated on a website not in their game software and as such will not affect my rakeback. I'll have to accumulate 18,000 players points to receive the entire $900. Playing $1/$2NL I recieve just about 1 point per hand which is about double that on Stars. So, that's going to be $900 cash, about $800 in rakeback, 18,000 players points, 300 Iron Man Medals which can be turned in for things like a $216 tourney entry when you accumulate 1100 or the 300 can be turned in for 10,000 players points. Between 2 and 7 extra iron man medals per day based on the amount of play. A $2,000 freeroll and a $30,000 freeroll. That's a pretty value-packed month.

I think the biggest issue for me is that on Tilt if the $200 games are tight and I don't want to play them I can drop down to $100 and still make excellent progress with a little more time invested or an extra table or two open. On Stars I feel as though I must stay up at $200 to make acceptable progress because the criteria for gaining 1 point is higher, and their $200 are tighter. In fact, I made Bronze Iron Man my first month in the competition by playing .25/.50 and .10/.25 NL.

I enjoy playing 200 points per day for 25 days on Tilt and then playing on another site after 200 points are accumulated or during one of the remaining "off days." I'll use that time to play on Stars if I'm bonus clearing and on Cake or now Carbon otherwise because fish + rakeback = fun.

I thought I was the only one who really disliked Stars! I really don't like anything about it - the interface, the speed, blah, blah, blah. Oh yeah, the last time I had a winning session there, Clinton was President.

I'm with ya Allison! And I really want to like the site too.

One silver lining to when Tilt goes down for more than a few minutes is that they credit your iron man progress with a full 200 points... so they went down when I was playing at 12:05 last night and I logged in today to see that I have a full 200 points of credit. Gunna take the night off.

New promotion announced today: They are awarding double playes points between Dec 17th and January 4th. On any day in which you gain 20 points or more you receive double players points in your account. That's gunna be great when I start my January push as I'm planning 1000 points per day.
