If you are new to poker, one of the most important things you need to know is proper starting hand selection. Your starting hand selection is crucial when you are playing poker. Hand strengths vary greatly depending on your position relative to the button in poker.

There are 8 groups of starting hands we have listed in our video. We selected the most profitable hands grouped by position relative to the blinds. This is a good general guideline you can follow at first, until you get more experience and can effectively open up your game.

For now the starting hands we listed are assuming you are playing straight-forward poker in a tight/aggressive style. If you follow this pattern, you will be mostly playing strong hands in position, which is the most sure-fire way to turn a profit.
