question about youtube

Is it easier to enter in the URL, like this (this is how it currently works):

That is, you only put in the video ID and then the board will know what to do with that code.

Which is easier?

I would think the first one because it's easier (I think) to copy and paste the whole url. But why do you have to take the 'www' out?

The reason for the www thing is because when it goes to parse the bbcode, I have it look for exactly "http://youtube.com/watch?v=<code>". There's no way for me to use regular expressions or something. And it won't let me set up an alias.

Is it easier to have "www" in there? in that case, you'd have to put "www" in. I experimented with different forms trying to make it so it didn't matter what you put, but I wasn't successful.

When you bring up a video on youtube, it has the www in it. So, when you copy the url, it has the www in it. So, currently, using the youtube tags, you have to take out the www in order for it to work...right? Or am I doing something wrong?
