....am I getting myself into spots where I'm 3-barrel bluffing against unknowns? I never 3-barrel bluff.

One of my biggest holes (actually more of a canyon) when I started, and still is to some degree. Sometimes it seems that whenever you bet, they have it & when they don't, you don't either.

You know the kind: they play TP or a set as if they had a flush draw.

Hence, "3-barrel bluff". I put him on a flush draw or lower pair, and did not want some stupid Kh8h to win high card just because I didn't bet the river, when no one in their right mind with a missed flush draw will call the rest of their stack on the river with just K high.

I didn't. If I had a pair at all I would have checked behind. By "lower pair" I meant "under-pair". Sorry for the confusion.

I've recently learned not to expect anyone to fold until I've seen that they are capable of doing so. It has saved me lots of money as a result. I will often test these people with smallish pots where I can get away without showing down the bluff; but until I have seen someone fold, I assume that they don't even have the button on their screen. That said, you're up a level or two from me, but I don't think I plan to change my ways all that much WHEN I get there either.
