But what hand can call his shove? Basically only 99 can call, so he's throwing money away by raising and reopening the betting. Villain must have been braindead to call with less than 99.

True, when hero checks on the turn villain must immediately know that he quaded up. So when he bets the river I think there should be some serious consideration for folding.

Not to turn this into a Strat thread, but I've been in and have seen hands like this where the villain just doesn't give you the credit for hitting the flop and later streets as well for that matter. Stacking off is just ridiculous though.

I played in a hand last night where I just threw in a speculative raise from the button with 89s and flopped 998. Just like this guy, my villain bet out the flop thinking no way I hit and can't call. He went on to call my raise and stack off on the turn with TT.

That's awesome. That's why mixing it up is so important. To be honest, well I don't want to imply that I'd get stacked on this exact hand with TT, but this is a great flop for TT against a potential steal from the button.

Well played!
