That's the style I'm growing into. My cold call preflop % is like 3% or less.

Yeah but QJs from MP1?
That's Sklansky's group 3 and doesn't even make Hellmuth's top ten. You do have balls young grasshopper. Too much gamble for my mini bankroll, though.

I'd have to think for every hand that turns out like this you must have 50 that don't work out so well. Is it just me thinking this way?

Well......I guess I'd have to do some digging to find that out. My overall profit and winrate is pretty good, but from what I can remember I've been getting paid off huge on my big hands. But I do know this: I can fold TPTK, or lay down a 2nd best hand.

Also from what I remember, 1 of 2 things have been happening. People let me run them over until eventually they just start flat calling pretty thin from position and then think their weak ace is good or they straight up trap me with top set and I lose $2 on c-bets, OR they do stuff like this, where they donk-raise and give me good odds to bust them. Obviously I wasn't raising/calling with QJs to play for top pair.

One thing is for certain. Playing like this has gotten my legitimate monsters paid off BIG TIME. So I guess it's worth the gamble. That, and I trust my post flop skill and hand reading skill.

edit: Ask yourself this question. If you were either of the two villains, would you put me on QJ of hearts on the flop or turn?

I guess that's the key... If you don't flop the NUTS or monster draws like you did here, you need to know enough to shut down when up against so much opposition. GTK, but I don't think I'm NEARLY ready for that with my lack of postflop skills.

GH! but BTW, I'd be curious how well you really do with hands like this over the long haul if this is how you play them from (apparently) everywhere. Do you have any software that tracks that sort of thing?

Pocket pairs: 2.29 BB/10
Suited connectors: 2.13 BB/100
Unsuited connectors: 0.81 BB/100
Ax: 1.00 BB/100
Any suited: 0.55 BB/100
Any unsuited: 0.17 BB/100

Granted, this is only over ~ 2k hands, so it's not really meaningful yet. Unfortunately, my tracking software does not track BB/100 in relation to each seat.

edit: lol "everywhere" I wouldn't raise this hand from UTG, UTG+1, and usually not MP1. Although last night I raised 8-9s UTG and everyone folded. So sometimes it's "everywhere", sometimes its ABC poker.
