So I think I'm done with online poker. It hasn't been fun for a little while. And I had a brutal, brutal weekend where, along with earlier this year, I gave up pretty much everything I've worked for since day one and am probably a losing player again. I seriously think at this point that there is no way for me to catch up and have a profitable YEAR...that's how far behind I am. Right now, I have no desire to play (other than wanting to get back my losses because I'm pissed). I thought about posting hands, I thought about getting tutoring, I thought about making a video of my play for help, I thought about putting it all behind me and act like I'm starting new. But honestly, I have no desire right now.
If I do continue (now or in the future), I can say that I'm 99% sure I'm done with Full Tilt. Obviously, I just can't win there, whether it's me, the site, or the other players, it ain't happening on FT. I thought about going back to PS, but now people are telling me PS is tough. Well, then, fuck it. I won't play at all. I thought about dropping to 10NL on PS (and still might) or just playing .02/.04 on Cake if I ever get the itch again. It being harder and harder to move money around doesn't help. I would like to cash out everything (leaving a little for forum tournaments and stuff..although I usually don't play in them anyway), but am afraid it'll be too hard to get money back on. I'm tired of filling out forms at web sites to get money back and forth, only for the site to drop out of the poker scene. And some places (including the sites themselves) charge fees that almost don't make it worth it for a small player like me. I've been in the strat section of the forum like once in the past 3 months. Every time I try to catch up, I just zone out. I'm not learning anything nor am I contributing as I get a "I don't care" attitude and absorb nothing. Obviously, something is wrong. I thought about learning a new game, but that hasn't gotten very far either (2 sessions of Razz). There have been days where I can't wait to get home from work and play online. I'll clear out my 'schedule' at home so I can sit and play for a couple of hours without worrying about having things to do. And I start playing and 25 minutes later I'm looking to just win a few dollars so I can stop playing because suddenly I don't feel like playing anymore. If you look at my spreadsheet, you'll generally see my winning sessions are short, my losing sessions are long. My plan right now is to take a looooooong break from online poker. I seriously might not play again until they 'legalize' it. If that happens, I might start fresh, 'throwing out' all my old hands and spreadsheets, and start with a brand new bankroll. If it matters, I'm not leaving the forum, although I'm not nearly as active as I used to be. I don't think I'll give up live play. That's more of an event and I think I can still win money there...although I'm not sure about West Virginia as those tables are tough...I haven't been there since December. The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards cashing out just about everything. I also know that this could be temporary and I could be back in full force. But right now, I don't see that happening. Honestly, when I decided that maybe I should just stop playing online, I felt relieved.

I don't know if this will mean anything or not....
I am glad you'll be sticking around the forums, if nothing else. When I first started posting on tightpoker/ridgepoker/feltpoker, you were one of my first competitive inspirations for improving my game. As I (slowly) improved, I thought "I'm just as good as snickers, and he's playing 25NL! I'm still stuck down here at 10NL!" So it was a motivation to keep grinding out and improving my game. Sorry to hear that you're off your game, but when you were in your prime and playing a lot, I really respected your strategy contributions. It does sound like you need a break....hell, we all do from time to time. Maybe you need a new hobby to take your mind off the game.

I disagree with you in part. There is no way that you could possibly know if you are a winning player or a losing player, because you don't play enough hands. The amount you play, you could be an excellent player and have a bad year because of your low volume. I don't even play that much, but a two week losing streak for me would be like a one year losing streak for you. My confidence certainly would take a huge hit if I lost for a year, and I would be very upset at myself. However, the amount that you play, a year losing streak would be a very minor, short-term losing streak.
It also appears to me that the online players at ring games are somewhat better now than they were a year or so ago, at least post flop. If this is true, then adjustments would have to be made. I multi table which means I know much less about the players even with tracking software, but multi tabling is a way to get through variance much faster. I think if you decide to play, you could try a change such as playing some six handed for a while, which would force you out of your ongoing mind set. You could also try playing three or four tables, full ring, which I know you don't like to do, and play more situational poker with software. You will be forced to make decisions more rapidly which might be good for you, to force you to get experience outside your current comfort zone. You will play more hands more quickly and get quicker answers as to where you stand in poker. A break might not be a bad idea, but I would argue against a break of more than a few weeks unless you come to dislike poker or have financial constraints. Glad to hear that you are sticking around. I am sick of online poker and the fun left a long time ago. I think I have played about 500 hands in the last 3 months if I am lucky....
