I'm going to treat this like a strat post in the event Brinx is looking for some feedback. Brinx, if by saying that you made a double raise means you raised just 2x the BB, NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER MINRAISE!!!!!!!. Let me repeat: NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER MINRAISE!!!!!!!.

This is a recipe for beats like the one you posted. You need to raise at least 3x the BB. Too often I hear "if I raise 3x the BB then everybody folds and I never get any action". While that might happen sometimes, at least you haven't crippled your chip stack. If it's just me and a minraiser, I will typically call with many speculative holdings from the BB if the stacks are deep enough because, if I make my hand, I will stack you and I was only charged 1BB to do it. It's better to win a small pot than to lose a big one.

One last time with me: NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER MINRAISE!!!!!!!.

I dunno PH, I can see some times where a minraise is effective. At certain tables, in position (by that I mean on the button or CO at the worst) against a table full of people who limp a lot, or even standard raise light, but won't re-raise to a minraise, I'll minraise with small pairs or medium suited connectors or one gappers. I do this for the same reason you mentioned that you do this from the BB. I feel confident that I can outplay them after the flop, I've found this to be profitable. I call it "juicin the pot" for when I hit the flop.

I minraise all the time and find it an effective strategy to confuse "good" opponents in HU matches.

It's just grossly misused, but it serves a purpose.
