2+2 Deleting Strategy Posts

Has everyone heard about this? Apparently, Mason has asked mods on the 2+2 forums to start deleting all good strategy sticky posts because it is hurting book sales.

I'm really not surprised, but I do think it is a shame because there are some very good posts. It also goes to show that the people running that place are clueless and are still having a hard time making money from their website.

Personally, I hope one day that some of the high stakes players buys those clowns out and make that site better.

Pretty ridiculous. It appears that he basically got voted down and it's not happening, but pretty disgusting nonetheless... makes you wonder what the future holds.

I'm not sure how the publishing business works but I'd say that holding 2+ years of inventory is a pretty horrible business practice in any industry.

Maybe he just likes the number two.

Hey, we can work it out. How much do his sales have to slow down in order to be able to sell the old, tired, overstocked books over a 2+2 year span.

Just seems so far out of touch worrying about their book sales. 2+2 is by far the biggest and most powerful community in the poker world. I would imagine that books sales have declined in large part due to the amount of info and instruction players get from coaching sites.

The ad sales from 2+2 should be a multi-million dollar revenue steam and from what i'm hearing it's not. If Mason would come out of the 1980's and take a look around, he would realize that he has a huge potential market that he is ignoring.

Take this forum for example. We get offers almost daily from bigger sites wanting to get some ad space on here because its obvious we have poker players here and it's an active forum. We are no where near 2+2 or P5's, but it's not a ghost town either.

Now, one day I may decide to do more things with the forum, but the intention was not to try and turn this place into a huge revenue stream. Sometimes we get some good promos, and I'll pass those along, but only if it's an "above average" offer. Rakeback without deductions for example or somehting like that.

Now, with the potential player base at 2+2 they could easily leverage their massive numbers into a deal that will basiclly shut out all competition. I would guess that if they told stars they wanted Rakeback, they could get their players Rakeback. That's the amount of influence their massive player base has.

I know. This kind of thing is just mind-numbingly dumb. Randy has it spot on....

It ain't the first time he's made a stupid mistake. Remember the Jacks v AQ debacle? He lost a lot face there.

Interesting. The existence of their forums has not stopped or slowed down my purchase of their books in any way. In fact, the more I learn, the more eager I am to learn more, and I like the ability to have the information portable for viewing on road trips and flights.

Agree with Randy. If that site isn't making tons of money from ads, something is seriously wrong.
