This certainly isn't an example of MTT strategy, so it doesn't go there. It isn't exactly a "bitch", since I was (maybe) making my own bed, so I dunno, but I figured - definately not strategy, so here goes:
Poker Stars, $0.25 NL Hold'em Tournament, 25/50 Blinds, 7 Players LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter phrank68 (UTG): 1,265 iamthemagici (UTG+1): 4,325 vacjohn (MP): 1,145 Spade'll Do (CO): 1,688 Lady Davina (BTN): 1,767 TamOshanty (SB): 1,410 Hero (BB): 1,385 Pre-Flop: (75) :6c :4h dealt to Hero (BB) 2 folds, TamOshanty calls 50, vacjohn calls 50, Spade'll Do folds, Lady Davina calls 50, Hero checks Flop: (225) :5h :7c :Kh (4 Players) TamOshanty bets 100, Hero raises to 300, 2 folds, TamOshanty calls 200 Turn: (825) :5h :7c :Kh [ :Qd ] (2 Players - 1 is All-In) Hero bets 600, TamOshanty raises to 1,060 and is All-In, Hero calls 435 and is All-In River: (2,895) :5h :7c :Kh :Qd [ :4d ] (2 Players - 2 are All-In) Results: 2,895 Pot Hero showed :6c :4h (a pair of Fours) and WON 2,895 (+1,510 NET) TamOshanty showed :Jh :Ah (high card Ace) and LOST (-1,385 NET) This guy was pissing me off so much because he kept raising pots only to get out on the turn or river if it got to pricey to draw out on whatever he was trying to draw out on. He raised all-in every time someone limped or raised when he was in the BB. Nobody ever called his bluff, ...err ...until now. (my only problem, he wasn't bluffing) In every hand up until now, he folded when things got hot, but I'm thinking, I don't give a shit, this guy's got nothing. I knew he had to have over cards to mine, so if I didn't make my str8 or ANY pair, then he'd win unless I could get him to fold. I've seen him fold to 3 or 4 turn bets in a row, so I went for the bluff with my draw and rolled the dice. I can't believe he called, (holy shit he MAY have something, so now I figured SD or FD, probably Ace, but I can't continue in THIS tourney with 400 chips, so here ya go, I call the all-in). Until this point in the tourney (same table, same players), I haven't played a hand yet at all. Even got raised in the BB and folded each time. This guy should have thought, hmm, this guy might have my Ace-high beat. Nah. I've found with this particular tournament, If I don't get 2000-3000 chips before the blinds get to 50/100, I don't have much of a chance to wait for cards to play real poker; & if I do, it's a cake walk to the $$$. I saw this an opportunity to bluff this guy and get some chips. I never thought that hand would go this far, but I guess it worked out in the end. This may be my last of these .25 things & quit while I'm ahead. I think I entered into 5 and cashed in 3 of them. Not a bad ratio, but if this is how I need to play to get in the money, I don't think it's worth it. Whattayouthink??

Not ready for that. I'm trying to follow Ferguson's "no more than 5%" rule, so I'm not moving up ANY time soon. It's just that these .25 tournaments are a little frustrating at the beginning 'cause of all the jackasses. It takes 10 or 12 levels before you can think anybody's gonna play anything that resembles poker. This was a bonehead move that worked out, but I've found that without getting (damn good) cards, early and often, then you're (at least my) goose is cooked before the first break. Oh, and BTW Ugi, feel free to remove your little notation on the leaderboard. I saw it. :)
