First off, this is not a “I promise to blog more in 2010″ post. Because I’m not promising that. I’m not much on resolutions, so I’m not going to even bother making that one.
But I am going to TRY to blog more. The reason I stopped was because nothing exiting was going on. I was pretty much breaking even in poker and nobody wants to read about that. But I think things are going to start changing. I basically find myself at a point I’ve been at for quite some time. Learn to be better at poker or stop trying. And honestly, I keep going back and forth on what I want to do. Read the rest of this entry »

I meant to post about this subject a long time ago, but never did. I think I’m a sprinter and not a marathoner. If you look at my poker spreadsheet, you’ll see, for the most part, my winning sessions are short, my losing sessions are long. A big part of that is me chasing losses. This has to stop as it usually makes things worse and I lose more….or I spend 3 hours to make it back and win 50 cents. Read the rest of this entry »

I meant to post this around the 13th…before I left for AC. But I forgot. So it’s a little dated. But here goes…
I might set a personal record for least amount of hands played in a month in a month on which I was not on a break. Here it is almost the middle of October and I played around 200 hands. That’s it. This doesn’t count live poker, as I’m about to go on a three night trip to Atlantic City. And my trip to AC is causing me not to play online. Read the rest of this entry »

For almost a month, I was playing naked online…no, I don’t mean sitting naked in front of my computer. Although maybe that wouldn’t be a bad idea. Maybe I’m too uptight while playing online and I need to set myself free by shedding my clothing. Maybe I should play a version of strip poker with myself…every time I lose a pot due to a mistake, I take off an article of clothing. Either way, I better stock up on office chairs because I don’t know if I would want to reuse any chair that I sit naked in. Read the rest of this entry »

Full disclosure…I hate Full Tilt. I started playing there back in February of 2008 when I got rakeback from the forum through Randy. I was playing almost exclusively at Poker Stars with no rakeback, so I thought I should at least sign up for rakeback somewhere. Not that I play a lot, but every little bit helps. Things started off great and I thought it was wonderful. Then I had a really bad stretch…the worst of my ‘career’ and it almost caused me to quit poker. I pretty much swore off Full Tilt. I’ve tried to go back, but it’s more of the same every time I do. Read the rest of this entry »

Well, after some issues, finally got PT3 up and running. I had an issue with my discount for buying PT2 not showing up for the Micro edition of PT3. They finally figured it out…$16 savings! So, PT3 Micro ended up costing me ~$28. Had I known it was going to be that little, I would have done it a while ago. Then again, I don’t think they had the Micro edition “a while ago”. The Micro edition is limited to 25NL and lower, and .25/.50 Limit and lower. I’m back down to 10NL for now and really have no plans on going beyond 25NL for now, so this works fine for me. Today went a lot better. Actually, I thought I was not doing well, but I’ve managed to string together a few winning sessions in a row. I think my mind is still on my not-so-good July, which is why I thought I wasn’t doing well lately. Today I tried to concentrate on those problem areas from July…not being aggressive enough, giving up on hands way too early and with hands that are too strong to give up with, and, based on this thread, I watched my preflop aggression that could end up with me out of position against the wrong players. Good news, bad news as I review my hands from July. First, you should know that July 2009 was my 9th worst month since I started using Poker Tracker in January, 2005. And February 2009 was my fourth worst month. So, 2009 is not going well. Dropping from 25NL to 10NL while I work out some things means 2009 could be a losing year unless I figure out what’s wrong and fix it in time. I have 4 full months to do it, so that’s my “Rest Of The Year” goal…make 2009 not a losing year. August is going better…I’m positive, but not really tearing things up like I’d hope (1.96 PTBB/100). Since this month has gone so horribly wrong…wrong enough that I decided to drop down to 10NL, I of course fired up a couple 25NL tables last night. Why? Because this month is so far gone (for me) that what could it hurt? If I’m going to turn it around, rather I get hit in the face with the deck at 25NL instead of 10NL. There were a couple spots I was a huge favorite and lost this month…that’s poker…so I figured if variance was going to turn in my favor, let it happen before I moved down.
