My Emotions

I really need to get a hold of my emotions when I play.  I need to realize what is really going on and not think about what I think is going on.  I’m not sure how to do this, though.  This all stems from my play on a recent Friday night.  Once again, I was chasing losses…something that really has to change because I only get myself into more trouble.  And while that is emotional and fits the topic of this post, it’s a bigger topic for another day. Selective Memory and Poker

Can selective memory be good for your poker game?  Doubt it.  Selective memory is where you remember only parts of an experience, or totally skip an experience altogether.  It’s why people complain at a poker table that they hate pocket aces because they never win….NEVER!!!  Of course, that’s not true.  You just remember those times that the best starting hand in poker loses and tend not to remember the 80% of the time that they win.  Plus, it’s human nature to remember the bad things in life…and it hurts to lose with pocket aces. Thank Goodness I Lost

Some might say I have a defeatist attitude.  Or suffer from low self esteem.  Or I’m only happy when I’m sad (or when it rains, or something like that).  And I would probably mostly agree.  I think I’m not going to help my cause by admitting I’m happy that I lost at poker the other night. (more…)

I Three-tabled today!! Twice!!

Amazing what a good night’s sleep does for you.  I have slept awful every night this week.  Finally, Friday night came around and I was able to sleep in Saturday morning.  Finally refreshed, I decided to fire up some 25NL on PokerStars in the early afternoon.  I usually two table and have thought about adding another table to get more hands in, but haven’t yet.  Finally today, I did.
