Well, my WSOP 2011 dream might already be over. I had another bad month of live poker and hit my loss-limit earlier this week. That means I’m done for the month and it means another losing month. Really, I would have been done with live poker for the month at the end of this week anyway because I’m on call next week for work and the cell phone does not get any reception inside the casino. I think work would not be happy if they found out I didn’t answer an emergency call because I was too busy getting my aces cracked in the poker room. Read the rest of this entry »

Last month was the start of me trying to win enough money playing live poker to get to the WSOP 2011 and enter a $1k tournament. It did not go well and now I’m further away from my goal than when I started. But just a few days into August, I’m suddenly a third of the way to my $3k goal. How did this happen, you ask? I think I’m done with cash games online. No, really. This time I’m serious. I think. I fired up PokerStars last night wanting to jump into a 10NL table for an hour or so. And I was shocked how much I just didn’t want to be there and how annoying everything was making me. I have realized that I really need to want to play in order to play well. When I first started playing poker online, my first goal was to qualify for the Party Poker Million Cruise. Ah, good old Party Poker. I gave myself a year, thinking it would be a piece of cake. Well, I never got anywhere near the cruise. I was brand new to poker and was not nearly good enough to qualify. And I wasn’t able to play enough to get good enough when the cruise came around again. I’m going to attempt to do a running blog of my 4-Max NL SCOOP Tournament. I’m thinking with it being 4-handed, I probably won’t have much time in between hands to type stuff. I’ve been thinking about this tournament most of the day and am excited and nervous. It’s a $33 buyin…I won my ticket in a blogger’s tournament earlier this year. I really don’t expect to do very well. I hate shorthanded as I’m too tight. I can easily loosen up pre flop, but then my shorthanded inexperience post flop will hurt me. So, I’m going to try to have fun, learn some things, and I will be happy with a min-cash. Of course, I will be trying and would love to win some ‘real’ money. I already have plans for it. I hate when I end a post saying what my next post will be about. Because then weeks will go by and I don’t update and then when I do finally update, I don’t want to talk about what I said I was going to talk about.
