Taking a break…
Well, it’s been a long time since my last Blog Entry; mainly because I told myself I would write my next entry when I found out if I can play profitably at SNGs. I’ve played over 1000 $5.50 Buyin Sit ‘n Gos since I started this endeavor in September and I think I have my answer.
I believe I am good enough and understand enough about the game to make a decent profit over a long term. However, the time that I can dedicate to playing just isn’t enough to outweigh the high variance inherent with this type of poker. Although I’ve made by far, the most money in these games vs. all the other things I’ve tried, the downswings take the fun out of it for me since I don’t play enough each month to let everything work itself out.
January has been my worst month by far since September and although I probably have enough of a bankroll left to grind it out and avoid busting, I think I’m going to instead, take a break from actually playing SnGs. I have a membership at SNGIcons.com and a couple of new books to catch up on (mainly Kill Everyone, by Lee Nelson). So I think stepping back from playing for a while and coming back strong in a month or two will be the best thing. Until I can dedicate a couple of hours of uninterrupted time whenever I sit down to play, I’m not giving this a fair shot.
I’ll tinker around in an occasional MTT for fun, but when I’m ready to start playing seriously again, I’ll finally make my 1st (ever) deposit so I’m properly bankrolled for $11 buyin SnG’s and give it my best shot. Wish me luck. Apparently, I’m going to need some.

A break is usually a good idea. I think most of us have taken one at least once and I do believe it helps coming back with a fresh mind. GL!
