Bounties and Bots…

So this last week or two have been very enjoyable for me playing Online, thanks mostly to a new post on www.feltpoker.com that turned me on to Walker Poker.  Although, not exactly as enjoyable as entertaining, I also got exposed to something that I never knew existed; Poker Bots at the Cash Tables on CakePoker….

As it turns out Walker (on the same network as CarbonPoker and some others) just started a new Bounty Hunter SnG promotion around the time I joined the site.  The ones I played MANY of consisted of a $2 +.20 buy-in where $1 goes towards the prize pool and $1 goes towards a bounty for each player.  So the prize pool is $5 for 1st, $3 for 2nd, and $2 for 3rd & $1 for every Donk you can bust along the way.  To make the Donks come out even more, they were offering, until April 15, a daily and weekly “challenge” for the most bounties claimed.  Needless to say the only thing that was stopping me from winning almost every one I played were the cards.  For the 1st time since I began playing poker online 5 months ago, I finally found a game that I could beat consistently with confidence.  I’m really anxious to see how the dynamic of these games change now that the Challenge contest is over.  That said, although I never thought I’d come across a site with softer, easier to beat players than CakePoker, WalkerPoker just might be that place.  Stay Tuned…
On a wierder note, JAMOOL, one of FeltPoker’s regulars posted something about eledged “Bots” on CakePoker’s $20NL Cash Tables.  After some digging, he found a thread already under way at another forum that made the same allegation.  Since his post, others at Felt including myself made some observations of our own and concluded that basically it IS happening.  Apparently these bots are extremely predictable and are running a muck on Cake right now IMHO.  You can read about the situation here:  Although when you have a number of very predictable players at the table with you, the game should be easy to beat, I think I’m going to wait until the dust settles on this before I go buying in to a Cash Game on Cake.
