At Last…

I have finally won my first large field MTT.  As I wrote in a previous post I was really beginning to wonder if this day would ever come.  The tourney was a $2 +.20 BOUNTY Tounament on CakePoker where $1 goes towards the prize pool and $1 goes towards each player’s BOUNTY.

I realize that by most Feltpoker member’s standards this tourney doesn’t quailify as a major win, but by my miniscule Bankroll Standards, this is by far the highlight of my young Online Poker Career.

It was not 100% mistake free, and I did benefit from one major suckout, but all-in all, I think I played the best poker I’ve ever played in an MTT of this size.  There was one hand in the mid-late stages where I was up against a guy who I thought was just trying to steal my blinds when he moved in on me with about 12BBs,  I made a somewhat loose call with ATo and he had AQs.  So even though I flopped my Ten, he made his flush on the river to double-up.  Then, much later we were on the bubble of the final table; I was 4th out of 11 with AKs in the BB.  The sole limper had me covered but I didn’t think he’d call if I shoved & I didn’t want to waste the best hand I had in almost an hour by just getting 2 1/2 BBs out of it, so I put in a standard raise.  The flop came KTQ rainbow.  Since putting in any bet at all would have committed me, I went ahead and stuck it all in right there.  He tanked for the entire time allowed then called with KT, FUCK. You had to think about that???  Luckily the poker gods were on my side for that brief moment cause I rivered the Jack to double up and become the chipleader.  The next hand brought on the final table where someone at the 2nd table busted out.

We were down to 5 before I knew it and was still a pretty healthy chipleader when I once again had AK but UTG this time.  I put in a raise and got one caller from the guy in second place with a pretty healthy chipstack.  The flop comes Ten-high rainbow.  I C-Bet (mistake???) and he shoves the rest of his stack.  Crap, I guess either he hit that flop or he’s getting tired.  I could have called but it would have dropped me to last if I lost, so I folded and gave him the albeit slight chiplead. CRAP!!!  OK, that’s once. I’m keeping my eye on him.

When we got down to 3 remaining players, Me and shove-boy were very close with 3rd place hanging by a thread.  This 3rd place guy played very well and got a little luck as well at times & we were 3 handed for over 1/2 a fucking hour.  I had a healthy enough stack not to have to take dumb chances and so few cards were being shown down that I didn’t have much to go on with shove-boy.  The 3 of us tightened up and it was obvious that nobody wanted to go out in 3rd without at least a decent hand.  It seemed nobody was really challenging the blinds unless they had something.  It was like they call the big blind, fold, or go all-in.  Can’t anyone play poker???  Anyway, due to this weak play I was able to see lots of cheap flops from the SB.  I limped behind on 3rd place guy’s BB with 67o (cause he’d never raise unless he had something premium) and I flop trips (YEAH BABY), I check, he bets half his stack, the other guy folds.  He’s committed anyway, so I put him in for the rest and my hand holds up to bust him.

Head-up…
Not much of a story to tell here thankfully.  The very first hand I had AKo, (Yes, against the same guy that shoved to my C-Bet the last time I had AK & missed).  I really didn’t think he’d call a shove, so I just standard raised.  He called and of course again, I miss the flop (and there’s two to a straight). FUCK!  Fuck it, I C-Bet, he calls. Fuck. Turns a brick (sort of, he could have made a gutshot, but not much else I hope), Fuck, check check. hmmm.  Rivers a King.  OK, Fuck it, I have him covered, let’s see what he does if I shove.  He tanks, calls and turns over air. YYYEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!  Victory at last.

I won like $117 plus 20 Bounties including my own from my $2.20 buy-in. I’ll take it! ;)
