Moving on up… (soon)

June 22nd, 2009

I’m going to try & take over where I left off in my last entry…  So after feeling pretty good about my game and getting my bankroll to a level higher than it’s ever been before, I decided it was time to take a small calculated shot at moving up to the $6.50 18-Man SitnGos.  I planned to play my regular 6-table sessions, (something that’s pretty much second nature to me), at the $6.50 level and at any point, if I lost 8 buyins ($52) from where I started I would move back down and grind it back up again at the $3.40’s. Poker is Fun again!!!

June 17th, 2009

I’ve been grinding 9-Man $5.50 and $6.50 Sit and Go’s on Stars for like 6 months and although I never really came close to busting out after playing 1000’s of these games, I also never really got to a point of crushing them like I thought I would by now.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Harsh Reality of the SnG Grinder

April 20th, 2009

A couple of months ago, I read a post (on a SnG forum) by a guy who was on a really good run in the $6.50 9-Man Turbos (which is the level that I’m currently at). He was more or less announcing that he was getting ready to move up to the $16’s. Since he had only played about 650 games at that point, I felt obligated to share a little wisdom that I had learned the hard way. Read the rest of this entry »

Taking a break…

January 19th, 2009

Well, it’s been a long time since my last Blog Entry; mainly because I told myself I would write my next entry when I found out if I can play profitably at SNGs.  I’ve played over 1000 $5.50 Buyin Sit ‘n Gos since I started this endeavor in September and I think I have my answer.  Read the rest of this entry »

Taking a Stab at SnG’s…

October 18th, 2008

Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve written a blog entry. Mostly because I took much of the summer off from (trying to be) serious poker. In September I started playing more or less SnG’s exclusively. Read the rest of this entry »

The Importance of taking notes on other Players…

May 25th, 2008

I’ve pretty much always taken notes on players, but I really kicked it up a notch after reading John Vorhaus’s book “Killer Poker Online”.  He explains how important it is to take VERY DETAILED notes on ALL the people you play against.  Read the rest of this entry »

At Last…

May 22nd, 2008

I have finally won my first large field MTT.  As I wrote in a previous post I was really beginning to wonder if this day would ever come.  The tourney was a $2 +.20 BOUNTY Tounament on CakePoker where $1 goes towards the prize pool and $1 goes towards each player’s BOUNTY. Will it ever happen????

May 9th, 2008

I’m starting to wonder if I’ll ever win a Multi-Table tournament with more then 20 or 30 people in it.  I started out this month with a new strategy; play in enough cash games to enable me to play in a MTT with a decent prize pool every couple of days or so.  Read the rest of this entry »

I’m learning…

April 21st, 2008

I’ve had a horrible night in a couple of MT Tournaments.  I outlined my major suckout losses in my BFZ post here: Ouch
BUT. a major difference in my (mental) game of late is what I’m doing afterwards… Read the rest of this entry »
